€69.99 here but only £49.99 if you can get one in Britain :eek::confused:

Kinda thing you'd want to be able to return easily, if any problems arose.

Still damn fine value, €10 cheaper than last time around and a lot less than anything I've seen with equivalent spec.

What do they look like when they're turned on? Don't fancy the dash lighting up like a Christmas tree... :o

You won't get a similar spec from any big manufacturer for under 150 really. I have the Lidl one which is similar and it's a very good unit (apart from having a sh!ite radio tuner).

Think the main difference between the two is the Lidl one has an external mic that can be mounted on your dash/A Pillar where as the Aldi one has the mic built into the front of the headunit, which may not be quite as effective/clear.

I got the LIDL one last time round. Impressive spec, install easily etc. The mp3 is well done - does not choke on big SD cards unlike the Blaupunkt one I had. Not so sure about how good the tuner is - my RTE 1 keeps going into search mode - in certain areas in Cork (and never finds anything).
One big doubt I have is that mine has a considerable hiss, even when the volume control is at minimum. Not noticeable when driving and playing stuff at decent volume, but irritrating when playing quiet stuff when parked. Maybe I got a Monday machine - must see if I can find the receipt and exchange it.

I bought the last one and i find it great, 99% of the time i'm listening to my mp3 player across the bluetooth and it's brilliant, i really can't fault it for the cash.

I bought the lidl one and when I installed it (albiet after 3 months) it didn't work.. I eventually brought it back and without any quibble the customer services people offered me my money back or have it fixed. Well I liked the spec so i let them have it to fix. That did'nt work neither so i got my money back. Great people to deal with though I must say. Sent me three emails apologising. And I didn't even have a receipt. I think I'll try the aldi one. Ya can't go wrong for that money. If you don't like it - well , just bring it back!

Is their a facility on the radio that you can control the radio from the steering wheel like my original, or am I expecting too much!

this one http://www.lidl.ie/ie/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20091015.p.Bluetooth_Car_CD_Radio looks similar (but not identical) to the one I got previously.
It's slow to read CD's and the cable for the external could have been a bit longer to enable the mic to be positioned just a bit higher on the drivers A piller, but seperate to these 2 small gripes, its very good for the cash - the bluetooth hands free phone operation is very good and has good call quality on both ends.
Ask for them from the cashier iirc.

The car stuff they do have in aldi an lidl is great, you can't get better value anywhere else, I picked up the seat covers, radio, steering wheel cover and a few other things, last time round and they are all great, I must go in again and get a few more things.

Saying that now, I got the radio in lidl the last time and have had the same small problems as the a above posters, but for the price you can't complain, you get used to the little hiss, and you can barely hear it anyway.

I went to two and nothing! Thought I had probably missed it but didn't see any signs for them either.

I got one in Nutgrove but I was there before opening time and had to ask for it. They had them at the checkout and 3 were bought before me

Hey guys. Was wondering if any of you that bought this, installed it yourself? Priced installation around Longford and found it very expensive. Halfords for example, wanted to charge €60 for it, even though I only paid €70 for the sterio itself!

Have a mate that said he would install it, just worried that it might be difficult? Also, don't want to mess up the electrics in my car.

    Thanks.

Depends on the car you are installing it in. If it's a normal Din stereo you are removing and has a ISO connection, should be no problem. You might need to buy an Adapter for the Aerial.

No problem installing into a Passat (00) half hour job.

For info: Had a mate install it for me. Took all of 10 mins. Simple job. Saved myself a few quid there!
