Anyone ever used the site Hotwire.com for booking hotels

Been recommended this site and there are some great deals on it. However it doesn't give you the name of the hotel until after you booked it, and they claim this is why their prices are so low. You pick the star rating of the hotel, the price comes up and its rough location. Good way to pick up 4 star hotels for very cheap. However i want to know if anyone has used the website and how reliable it is. thanks

I used it in New York, Boston and Philadelphia.

New York and Philadelphia I got the Omni hotel chain. Boston I got the Intercontinental.

So I've only had good experiences. Friend of mine had a bad experience with London though. Card got charged without getting a hotel, Money was refunded of course but still not a perfect experience.

I only ever use Priceline and Hotwire to book hotels since I discovered them couple of years back.

You can use sites such as BetterBidding to make a good guess at the hotel that Hotwire is offering.

Yep, used Priceline and Hotwire myself on some travelling around Canada and the US earlier this year. Got a couple of very nice places as well, although one place was a bit crappy we didn't actually care on that day as we only needed the roof over our heads for the night.

Never used hotwire although I have used Priceline which is similar. No issues whatsoever got lovely 4* hotels in Amsterdam and Paris for around 60 per night.

Got a great deal on the Sheraton in Boston's Back Bay about a month ago. Only booked it the day before too.

Had no problems at all, would definitely use it again.
