Great Fights That Never happened

Now I'm not talking about ali tyson or whatever. What are the greatest fights with guys at or near their prime which that could have happened should have happened but didn't happen?

Can think of a couple of good ones at the moment

Duran v Pryor - reckon Duran would have won by K.O but would have been hagler Hearns incarnate for as long as it lasted.

Trinidad v Mosley - I reckon this would have been an interesting one with Mosley coming out on top

Jones v Collins - Be an interesting bet to see if collins's chin would have survived the battering jones would have administered

Hagler v Hearns 2 - don't think anybody would have complained about a rematch here

On a closer to home level, the biggest and most anticipated fight was
    McGuigan-Nelson.

From the world scene we had Sanchez-Nelson II that was due to go ahead but Sal's untimely death scrapped that fight.

My all time favorite fight that I would have died to see was Bowe-Lewis in the early 90s.

Rumours had it that Toney wanted Benn and Eubank but it never materialised

Benn-Toney would have been great while it lasted.

Some of these were never even discussed but here goes nothing..

    Vitali V Wlad

    Morales V Hamed

    Tapia V Mccullough

Benn /Collins/ Eubank VS Jones / Toney / Hopkins

closer to home and more recently - Hatton v Witter

    Now thats a super 6!!!

Mosely - Mayweather (few years back)

McCullough vs Martinez... I just think Wayne would have won and it would leave a big impression on the irish public if he retired then or soon after.

I would have been interested in Winky Wright vs Pavlik for the middleweight title a while back.

    Hatton - Witter.

    Corralles - Castillo III

I would have liked to have seen Pryor in with some of the bigger names in his time.

Tyson-Lewis a few years earlier would have been good.

Collins - Calzaghe wouldnt have been bad.

    Wlad vs Haye.

Thats all I can think of at the mo.

There are loads I would like to see at between 130 and 154 at the mo but with a bit of luck they might happen.

These two were stablemates, but I think the fight could have been made at 140 lbs between Meldrick Taylor and Pernell Whitaker. What a possible bout it could have been. Blazing speed and volume vs. speed, movement, angles and defense.

I'd say it can, but won't, and for obvious reasons:)

It was suggested in the past. I hear Mr Walsh was a pretty handy boxer in his day, but in TKO he would be up against a L4L king. A bit like Mayweather V Marquez.:D

Personally Id prefer to see Apollo v Clubber. It could have been Rocky 2.5. They missed out on that one :(

Another fight I fancied was Enzo Mac vs Marco Huck. We may have missed out on that one.

Roy Jones vs Tyson. Not your everyday affair and was been talked about.

    Pac vs jmm III

Mayweather vs Cotto when both of them seemed unstoppable.

I actually started a thread about him before, he will never fight anyone again as he is a murderer and in jail. But Ike 'The President' Ibeabuchi vs Lennox/Vitali/Evander.

He is the best professional boxer never to have held a world title imo.

After that it would have to peak Joe Calzaghe vs peak Roy Jones jnr.

And I would also have liked to have seen a rematch between Leonard and Hagler.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,309 ✭✭✭T-K-O

Don't be silly. Big Frank was scared ****less of Tyson.

Tyson/Morrison would've been good. Morrison was (wrongfully) diagnosed with HIV just before it happened

Ahhhh, Don King, is there nothin that man can't do!?

Ike Ibeabuchi against any of the top heavyweights

De La Hoya - Mosley III

    Riddick Bowe - Lennox Lewis

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 764 ✭✭✭horsebox09

Prime tyson vs lewis (would have been some match up!)

Hagler vs spinks (as far as i know hagler wanted to fight spinks but spinks wouldn't drop down to middleweight)

dempsey vs harry willis (going way back with this one but i would have been a war)

    hearns vs hagler II

I was going to say that one as well.

I think Lewis would have knocked him out.

The only possible match would have had to be at 175 lbs, no way in hell does
Spinks make 160 lbs, condsidering he was a 165 lb Olympic champ aged 20 and by 22 he was fighting at 170 lbs and above. It was up to the smaller Hagler to move to make this fight a possibility and Hagler knew well that it was a step too far.

But, good choice for a possible match all the same
