Ok just watched this. It's a travesty. THE single worst film i've ever seen, shame on all the B-list actors who didn't act in it.. at all.

Haven't gotten around to watching it. But nothing can beat the snorefest that was Transformers 2, the only time i've got a good sleep in the cinema. :D

honestly, i knew what type of movie it was going into it. explosions and action, and i enjoyed it for what it was

    Better than Transformers :P

Nowhere near as bad as I expected it to be.

That's not to say it was "good" per se, but still :P

I don't see how anyone could not like this film :). Lets face it, it was never going to be a deep and thought provoking examination of the impact of advancing technology on warfare and geo-political stability. It's a kids film about a bunch of people zooming around blowing up a ridiculous amount of things, trying to prevent another bunch of people from blowing up slightly more stuff. It's classic cheesy good-guys fighting over the top evil bad guys trying to take over the world. And it does it superbly.

The acting was fantastic, every single actor managed to keep a straight face the whole time, I don't think I saw any of the slip. The action was very well choreographed and directed, it was fast-based, loud, with exactly the right amount of over-the-top-ness, and it was clear and easy to follow throughout in contrast with transformers 2 which often descended into a whirling blur of light and noise. Michael Bay could really learn a lot from this. The plot was never going to be a mind bender, but was suitably interesting and was relayed very well.

I think this could be my favourite film of the year so far. It's definitely the first film in a while that did exactly what it was supposed to and did it very well. When you put it against films like Transformers 2 or Wolverine, which leave you feeling like they were just missed opportunities, I found it very satisfying to watch a film that feels like it was made to be the best it could possibly be.

The only way to stop these movies is to stop watching them.

I thought it was stupid fun, nothing more nothing less, theres plenty of room for dumb summer movies as long as they're done right, and unlike took-itself-way-too-seriously Terminator and the awful Transformers 2 at least GI Joe had a sense of fun about itself, yeah its ludicrous but who cares, its a movie based on a line of action figures, its not going to be Schindlers List ffs

GI. Joe was the movie it was supposed to be.

A live action version of the games you'd have played with the figures when you were a kid.

It was all about the action, the shooting, the explosions, the set pieces. And it did them well imo. You could actually SEE what was happening - not just hear and imagine it like with movies such as Tranformers.

It won't win awards for plot or acting, but it was a decent, fun, good looking action movie. It didn't need to be more than that and I am glad they did not try to make it something it did not need to be.

Sure, there were bits I didn't like - the flashbacks were clumsy and poorly entered on occasion and I don't know why the main bad guy went to the joe base but meh - it was a decent watch.

Watched it last night and wow was it terrible in sections.

bit too long; Denis Quaid I felt bad for.

but enjoyable! Not the worst movie I've seen this year by far

GI Joe was a great summer action flick in the big dumb movie scale of things. OP what the hell were you expecting it to be?

Right up there with Battlefield Earth as one of those movies so bad you gotta see.I kept expecting the Team America theme tune to start playing at any moment...

Watched it last night & loved it. Regretted not seeing it in the cinema.

This & Star Trek were the best movies of the summer. Great blow em up flick...

(course the four beers I consumed during it enhanced the experience - cinemas should sell beer)

It has to be watched by every Irish person for the use of Gaelic :pac:

The ending was a mind bender!

I used to love GI: Joe when I was a kid but when I heard of this movie I just laughed. I expected it to be terrible and well....it wasn't!

I actually liked and enjoyed it. It's a leave your brain at the door movie for sure but that's all it sets out to be. Lots of shiny tech, explosions and ott military operations.

    Much better than TF2!

I thought it would be good... was the worst film I've seen in a long time... far too much **** CGI... and you can't compare it to Transformers, that was so much better and dare I say more realistic....!

Liffey Valley sell beer, only €6 for a 220ml bottle! Just buy some Tuborg in Tesco, i've done that before, felt a bit of a prick but hey it was refreshing!

But yes GI Joe was a good film. Wouldn't have gone to see it if I hadn't seen everything else, but I was glad I did. Did exactly what it said on the tin!

It was definitely easier watching the Transformers 2, but it didn't have Megan Fox, or that insanely hot Decepticon!
