Strange Hard Drive

i recently got a wd elements 1TB hard drive. Strange thing though when its plugged in to the power outlet & the laptop via usb it has a magnetic force. When i'm holding it it seems to have a life of its own. I know there are magnets in hard drives but I have never had one that acts like that. I know its not specific to this one as a friend has one that acts the same.

Any Ideas to why this happens? is it normal?

It wouldnt really be a "magnetic" force.
More so, when the drive is spinning inside it it like holding a spinning disk with weight on it, The spinning disk causes the drive to "move" somewhat when you lift it.

The disk is spinning very fast and with a lot of force.

It is normal for external drives especially the 3.5 inch form factors.

Yep, its like a gyroscope, the faster its spinning the more difficult it is to move it from the position it is in. Similar to the way its easier to balance on a bike when you are moving than stopped
