    Male here, unregged!

I am not too sure about this one so maybe sounding it here might get some responses. I really don't know what to do with my pubic hair! At the moment it is au-naturel and just hairy! I think me and the GF are about to take the next step this month and I am a little concerned about it. Last time I shaved it a few months ago it was quite itchy during the grow back phase, plus I got like razor bumps (like pubic acne!) after it which took the guts of three weeks to cure up. This looked pretty horrible never mind the itching!

I wonder what is expected from us today? I like it when a woman is fully shaved and want to return the favour, (I'd say a mouthful of hair must be some turnoff!). Another fear I have of shaving is does increase the STI risk? Would raw skin on skin be more risky than having a barrier of hair in the way? Obviously it would cut the chances of crabs but if crabs were all we had to worry about we'd all sleep happy! Also I wonder would having razor bumps in the area increase the already minuscule risks? Obviously using condoms but I have often wondered does hair act as a barrier in its own sort of way?

To shave or not to shave that is the question!

No offense but a man shaving his pubes is prob the gayest thing you can do, just keep it trim and neat, leave the razor alone. your not a porn star

No offence, but a man shaving his pubes is no indicator of his sexuality, and a person inferring as such really needs to grow up. Another comment like that will earn you an infraction.

    Hiya,

Personally, I don't mind hairy, my boyfriend just trims it down every now and again so its neat. I'm totally bare which he also likes. So maybe rather than shaving which is very irratating to such a sensitive area, just give it a bit of a trim to clean it up.

That should do the trick :)

Also your question about hair preventing STIs, no, doens't make any differece!

Believe it or not, the majority of girls really don't like the fully shaved look (at least, judging by the regular polls about it in the Ladies Lounge). I know I don't, it kind of weirds me out.

Trimmed closely tends to be your best bet if you're worried about it, but I've never had a problem with au naturel either.

Trim it way down, nobody wants to wade through a lagoon to get to your bits, if you dont want the razor bumps just exfoliate down there with a scrub or face wash if you have one, does the same job, my missus likes it all gone or just barely stubbly, plus it makes it look bigger lol

I just use a head razor on it, looks grand. If you don't want the itching then put on Blade 1, it will leave enough hair that it won't itch and it will look nice enough.

As said trim it. I use hair shaver thing I used to use on my head, think they are called shears. Use a mach 3 on my head now.

Not a chance in hell would i use a razor. The itching must look like you have a dose of crabs!

    Trim, trim, trim!!

Besides, without wanting to sound crude, would you take a Gillette razor to your testicles? Trim away man.

A friend of mine once told me he shaved his pubic hair, but because he has really hairy legs, it looked a mess. So he shaved his legs too :D

Just give it a little trim with either an electric trimmers, or a pair of small scissors (a nail scissors will do the job).

If you really wanna go for the totally hairless look (I'm not sure how many girls actually would like that though), for the love of god invest in getting a professional waxer to do the job, it'll stop all that itchy grow-back and there'll be much less risk of injuries.

    From the horse's mouth -
In short, most gay men shave their pubic area and it's considered more acceptable when you are shaved, but ofcourse this differes from culture to culture.

While Forest of Dean chic is not appreciated, a completely shaved pubic area to me personally would be a really massive turn-off in a guy. As someone mentioned earlier, this has been covered in the LL so worth doing a search on as I think a lot of girls would prefer that area trimmed. Most men trim, it looks neat and tidy and displays the Crown Jewels but is still masculine and sexy.

Trim it so it's neat and clean looking.it's nice to know your fella is keeping himself clean.
Don't shave you don't want an ingrown hair especially in that area to get infected. :)

And my point still remains, while many gay men may shave their pubes, it is not exclusive to the gay community and therefore it cannot be inferred that a man is gay simply by the absence of pubic hair.

As for your check mate comment, PI is not a forum for getting one up on the next poster, it is for providing useful advice and information when requested. If you can do neither and only act the smart arse I suggest you go find another forum to post in.

Never ever shave your pubic hair off (or any body hair for that matter) as the following month or so will be exceptionally uncomforable. Akin to the general consensus of the thread, just neaten the area by trimming it if thats what floats the boat.

Ok I decided to trim and am very happy with the results, I got it just the way it would be after about two or three weeks of re-growth had I shaved bald, and during them weeks It would itch like hell!

I decided after doing a good bit of research online to buy the Philips Bodygroom from Argos, it got good reviews on the net and I am happy with it, it is rechargeable and waterproof but I wouldn't like using it in the bath/shower as it would be a recipe for blocked drains; also it is not too expensive.

I think the key to getting good results in this area is not to rush into to it (American Pie 3 lol!) and do the research on how to avoid getting that itchy feeling!

The first thing to do as I did was to take a long soak in the bath beforehand to soften up the hairs as pubes are more wirier than normal body hair. I then removed the long bush bits with a scissors and then took the bodygroom with the tightest head attachment (1) and trimmed it all down including the shaft and sack.

The head attachment being key as it leaves the hairs just long enough to avoid razer burn as when you shave down bald as I did before the skin can heal over the follicle (due to the slow rate of pubic hair growth) causing trapped ingrown hairs (ouch!).

Once everything was nice and neat, I then took a shower and applied some hair shampoo & conditioner 2in1 to the area and this helps to take the edge off the tip of the newly clipped hairs and it softened them a good bit. Softer hair leads to less irritation, I then added talcum powder (baby powder will also do) and this creates a barrier to irritation and after another soak or two in the bath over the next few days they will be perfectly normal!

I am not sure if I would ever shave bald again as this was so easy, and if I do I would do this first as shaving this small amount is much easier than taking on the Amazon. I think that if going fully bald by doing this you are reducing the amount of shaving strokes needed as you are shaving 3 to 5mm stubble instead of long hairs, leading to less irritation.

    Tips:
Soak in a bath to soften the hair
Trim on tiles or lino for easy hovering up afterwards
Bath or shower afterwards to soften the newly cut ends
Apply talc or baby powder afterward do this in the bath for easy cleanup as it washes away.

Get an electric razor, that way you'll have no more 'acne'.
Be careful with a scissor's, one wrong move and you might be half the man you were when you started.

One of my mates has done a lot of experimentation in this field and swears by the wet shave on the sack with a mach 3 and then a blade 3 around the bush with an electric head shaver (which his dad also uses on his head I believe - unbeknownst to himself).

I personally just use a scissors on the bush (very carefully) and am happy with results.
