    <Mod Snip>

Siobhan is one of the organisers of the race and has now admitted as much. She has been issued with an Infraction for "shilling" (promoting a business or event that you are associated with without admitting to your connection).

I had heard of it and was thinking about doing it, but was too early, cos I thought it was at 11 in the morning. Didnt realise it was on at 5:30pm. One of the running sites was giving the wrong time.

Eh..... Are you the Siobhan B thats organising it, according to

    http://www.runningdiary.co.uk/go/view.cgi/5654 ???:P

wonder who posted it in your door, :D

Is there stuff to keep kids amused during the race? I might be interested if theres other stuff going on for the little monsters.

    Hi guys
Did any of you see this - I just got a flyer about it in the door.
Looks interesting - I have never done a trail run at night, any tips from anyone?

    .

If this is the case, then it's a particularly underhand way to promote your race, and bode's very badly for its organization. I would prefer not to be so cynical when posters with small post counts come "looking for information" on new races. All too often they turn out to be profit-making endevours (nothing wrong with that) which have poor organization and let the runners down (a lot wrong with that).

I had intended bringing the family to this, I'll hold off until you clarify your position.

C'mon Siobhain! same organisers as Gaelforce methinks....

Agree with above, slightly underhand.......but I know Lough Key, great venue & the event should be a good laugh given decent weather, too close to DCM for me!

    Siobhan

Promoting your race in such a sneaky way makes it harder for any newbie who genuinely wants info on a new race, it just leads to more cynicism. Fine if you want to run a race promotion business, but I'd be very sceptical about your motives. You tried playing people for fools: I'll vote with my feet, and run somewhere else that night.

not surprised you are offering a 10% discount as i doubt its filling up too fast at €29 (legends of lough key 10km), live near the park and have ran an enjoyed it all my life , i am also a big fan of supporting local events but at €29 i will definitely pass especially since there is not even a mention of any of the proceeds going to charity , can run there for free anytime !

    Hi All,
Anyone doing this or done this before? sounds like a fun way to get the legs going again after DCM!

I'm not sure from reading the web site if it is a 'propper' 10k or just family fun kind of event, any ideas?

It's a "profit" 10k who's organizer was surreptitiously trying to shill the event on this forum a while back.
