Just a quick question about smoothees. I bought a smoothee maker this week and have been having one a day for either breakfast or lunch while trying to shift a few pounds. Just wondering are they much use and is it healthy to be having one a day instead of a meal.

what are you putting in them??

they are fine first thing in the morning or as a snack but not sure about a meal replacement, that depends on your goals and what else you are eating etc ...

Im putting in a banana, orange, grapes and strawberries. Im generraly having them in the morning seems out of work now, i get up about 10 have a smoothee as a substitue for breakfast. Then get on the threadmill do a 30 minute job. Then at about 1 have a brown bread sandwhich and tea. For dinner then usually chicken, steak etc with chips, potatoes veg. Just im pretty clueless about losing weight or getting a good routine.

    Hi Folding,

I let others advise about smoothies etc... but there is great reading in links below regarding nutrition and weight loss.

I don't think fruit alone is a great idea for breakfast, you need energy for your day. Fruit followed by the treadmill will use a lot of the energy from the sugars in the fruit. You need protein and some fats and such.

fruit smoothie as a pre run snack is fine IMO .. you should get plenty protein and good fats at lunch time though ... if weight loss is your goal focus more on veg and lean meat / fish rather than chips or potatoes ...

I thought this thread title was "Smoothness", imagine my disappointment.

    Thought we had another classic.
