MED 1 Form question

    Hi,
Got my laser eye surgery done about two weeks ago and can see well enough now to fill out the med1 form ;)
It seems to imply on the form and on Revenue site that you only claim back at the end of the year, however I read here and also one of the staff in Optical Express said that you could have it back within a week.
Can someone enlighten me as to how to fill out the form properly/how to claim back so quick?
    Thanks

I don't think you can claim until after the end of this tax year. There could be a way around it but if there is I don't know it.

When I was claiming I did in online and the Med1 section for the year did not appear until the following tax year. So basically if you checked online now there would be no way for you to enter any medical claims for this year, unless things have changed.

Normally with the Med 1 it is submitted at the year end together with a Med 2 ( if any dental work completed during the year - must be signed by Dentist) you shouls submitt the two forms but no reciepts etc to the Revenue with your P60 and ask for balancing statment - this should activative the refund
