I'm looking to upgrade to a new set of irons but the ones i'm looking for are crazy expensive , but i came across this web site http://www.my-golf-shop.com/ and they 're selling what look like top quality stuff for nearly 60 % cheaper than any where else .
the thing is they're a hong kong based company selling "factory outlet clubs " they go on to say "These clubs are taken out from the orginal manufacturer's assembly line without the last final quality inspection. Only those certified products can be sold in the franchised stores, most our clubs didn't do the last inspection, but deal with the same producing technics "

My question is did any one ever purchase or know anyone who purchased from this or any similar site ??

Any advice on this issue would be greatly appriciated

    Thanks

They're fake, the same question gets asked here every second week.

If you want quality you pay for it.

a few guys on here mentioned that sometimes these factories are contracted to make as eg. 1500 sets of irons for said company, these sets will have some sort of serial number.I beleive it is pretty normal for the company to make an additional amount of the same irons w/o serial number to the same spec and sell them off,i think if you do a bit of research you find the company is ligit but personally i wouldn't get involved, best deals on sets of irons at the mo is on http://www.onlinegolf.co.uk/ esp with the exchange rate at the mo.Have used the site, very good and cheap postage also

I'd suggest that what they mean is that the clubs have been made without the consent of the OEM. Why would the clubs miss the final inspection.......maybe that is done by the OEM? A final inspection would cost peanuts so why miss it if the result is that the clubs can't be sold at the full cost?

Can't understand then how a web based company like this can stay in existance if for instance TaylorMade or a Callaway knew they were selling imatations of their brands .Surley they would have the power to shut them down ????

This domain has been deleted a few times...
    http://www.hosterstats.com/historicaldns.php?domain=my-golf-shop.com
They can't all be shut down I guess... it seems this has been up since May 2009

As they say on the sandtrap forums, "Recently we've had a lot of threads asking if such and such a website or blahblah.com or whatever is a legitimate site for purchasing clubs. In every instance, the answer has been no. Please use common sense when you see a $900 set of irons shipping from China or Peru or whatever for $279."

Who are you trying to convince? No legitimate trading address. Of you're stupid enough to believe they are legit go ahead and buy them.

Counterfitting is a multi million dollar business, one place shuts and another opens around the corner. China is no 1.

Most manufacturers outsource their manufacturing to China...
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,464468,00.html - from 2003 so figures are probably m(b)illions out of date
http://edition.cnn.com/2009/SPORT/09/23/golf.ebay.clubs.scam/index.html - love the bit about all the fake clubs seized from this guy's house... all except his own set which was genuine :D
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/01/26/60II/main595875.shtml - 2004 article which gives some idea of the amount of counterfeit goods being retailed in China

Not at all, simply stating facts, china are the main producers of counterfeit golf equipment. They are also the main producers of legit gear for large companies too.

I wish some people would pay attention to the finer details of advertising sometimes. This is from there "about us" web page:
We getting our golf products directly from golf equipment manufacturer and suppliers, sale them in a desirable price, for you to enjoy your golf in a more economic way. These carfully chosen products are consumer preferable models. What you could expact are very good quality golf clubs, from outward appearance to functional performance, use perfactly in daily practice. They are worth for their price.

Years of experence on retail trade, we clearly know how important the customer experence is for us. We prvide a coherent service to anwser all your questions and do our best to solve your problems, we guarntee that you will get absolutely A-Class prducts & services here. All about trust, we are here for more bussiness but not one time deal.

How can you possibly be thinking of buying clubs from this place? There is only one version of this website - the english one - so there target market is english speaking. If they pay this much attention to their marketing I have little confidence on their attention to detail when it comes to selling me real genuine honest to goodness golf clubs.

If you do buy, I wish you the best of luck with their customer service when you don't get what you ordered.

I am on the lookout for a 2nd hand ladies Taylormade driver. Could anyone tell me what would show that it was a real or fake Taylormade?

The serial number on the clubhead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 586 ✭✭✭Waesfjord

serial # and then ring Tm / adidas to see if it is registered. This only proves that th serial # is real, not neceassarily the club is real.

Other way to to take to a golf shop and compare to a real one. Easy to do, only takes a couple of mins. If fake, shoudl easily pick out differences.
