    Out in January:mad:

I saw the trailer tonight and thought it looked interesting. I love the book, will the film be staying true to it or will it go in a different. I really hope they don't 'Hollywood' it too much.

It's good to see Peter Jackson getting back to some smaller stuff for a bit. I remember when LOTR was announced and I thought: The Heavenly Creatures and Frighteners guy? For LOTR? OK, yeah.... I can see that. I can't see it going "hollywood": I trust his work on the small scale as well as the large scale and, hopefully, the clout his name has will keep execs off his back. Plus that Saoirse Ronan girl was fantastic in Atonement (Haven't watched her in anything else yet).

It will be interesting to see how they market it actually.

I think the poor reviews are warranted, it may work well as a book but it just doesn't adapt well to the big screen. The "in between" scenes just ruined the film, everytime they came on I was waiting impatiently for them to end. There was potential for a great film, in fact I think if they just had Susie narrate the film and replaced the in between scenes with actual character and plot development then it would have been a great film. Alas, I know that would probably be a case of butchering the novel.

Oh and Susan Sarandon is still fine, damn.
