Just noticed on the way home this evening there's a quite a few new log periodic aerials appearing on the scene. Must be in good signal areas! Any of you installers on this forum using them?

I have installed a log periodic for myself in Dublin 4. It works fine, but it is a strong signal area. [Three rock] The person selling it said I should use a group A aerial as that is what they use. However, it should be wide band. So that meand log periodic.

Analoque signal is very good on all channels.

Logs are becoming very popular. You can now get higher gain ones. See www.aerialsandtv.co.uk for a nice discussion.

Site: Three Rock Mountain, Co. Dublin Aerial Group W (Black)

    RTÉ One: 29; Network 2 33; TV3 35; TG4 55 Polarisation: Horizontal
Nominal Max ERP Vision: 25 kW
    Site Height: 1479 ft A.S.L.
    Mast Height: 300 ft

The log periodic is the best wideband aerial. The problem with the Three Rock broacasts is the ch 29 to ch 55 requirement. Now if you do not care about TG4, a type 'A' will do, but digital will be on Ch 54, so to receive those you will need a 'CD' which will not be good for analogue RTE1 on ch 29.

Installers use a 'A' type aerial, probably because they are cheaper than log periodic, and most people do not watch TG4.

Point it in the right direction, otherwise signal is poor.
