hello all, we have 2 SKY boxes in the house and were looking to cancel the subcsriptions. after which we wonder what would be the best way to get all the FTV channels that are possible to get on freesat systems, while still receiving RTE and TV3, but without having to mess about with putting up aerials. just wanna know is it best to get a new system, or to install a completely freesat system?

RTE needs an aerial, no way around that.

so as soon as we cancel our subscription, we wont pick up RTE on the sky box?

bit ridiculous that after paying a TV licence we still have to pay a subscription to watch RTE.....

ok, moving on, what would be the best system (using the existing sky boxes or new freesat system) to pick up the largest range of FTV satellite channels?

Correct, pull your viewing card out to see how may channels are viewable on your box without a subscription.

You don't have to pay a subscription to pick up RTE - you can pick it up free over the air via arial as Tony indicated.

If you want to pick it up from a satellite then yes you need a subscription, but you have a choice between free (arial) and subscription (satellite).
