Hi everyone just bought a house and looking at furniture at the moment, would really like peoples opinions regarding sofas. Don't know whether to get fabric or leather sofas. Really like fabric sofas they are much warmer but is it practical with young kids? Have a 3 year old and prob be more in the future! What colour leather? don't want the same as everyone else? Thanks

Leather is great for cleaning! Really great, Good fabric is ok.

My view is spend 1-2k on a good leather sofa. If it lasts you 5-6 years its a bonus after that.

Leather is sweaty against your skin if your lying on it naked. Is this likely??

    Hi Caza,

You can get a lot of fabric sofas with removable covers now, so once you make sure that the fabric is washable and durable (ask for a fabric with a rub test of over 30,000 rubs) you shouldn't have a problem.

Leather sofas are great but if you don't spend the money on a good quality leather then it won't last.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

    Joanne.

I have two toddlers, bought two leather sofas spent alot on them but they are great. Awful things have happened to them, if they could they'd run away I'm sure, but they look good and I don't find them cold (or sweaty ;))

Chenille is a good hardwearing material for sofas when you have kids around :)
