I searched and read up on this but can't find clear info--

Can you get FTA American channels here in Ireland? If so, which satellite should one point their dish at?

Sorry, don't think so. We are just to far away to pick anything up.

List of North + South American satellites here:

Ah yeah thanks lads - already pick up those ones on Astra 28.2E. Shame that the others are too far away!

Just a shot in the dark here: Do any of you get the TV station 'Spike' on any in-range satellite?

If you have family/friends in the US, you could look at a slingbox solution.

Not available on this side of the Atlantic I am sorry to say.

I read on another forum that a bloke on the West coast of Ireland did indeed pickup US channels, but the elevation is very very low so you need to have a perfect line of sight with no obstacles in the way and an US box. This might have been back in the good old analouge days though as the pictures I saw of the reception was quite sparked... Believe he used a 3 meter dish.

Otherwise there are plenty (well not like bucket loads) on C-Band covering Europe as well, but the actual size of the dish might put you off. Quite costly things as well...

I have seen the "Dish Network" Echostar 3 packages in the West of Ireland but these are not FTA . Yer man has the dish on the ground .

Clear view to west , no mountains in the way , located high up and at least a 1.5m dish .

For individual channels, Voice of America and The Pentagon Channel on 13E for your daily dose of ... whatever you want to call it.

There are a tonne of bible bashing channels too, (pick any satellite position!) that seem to be American derived, if you're into that.

Are you looking for anything specific?

Someone is pulling in Echostar 3 on a 1.5m dish???

You can get NBC and MSNBC feeds FTA on 15W easily. I got a 85cm and was getting 79% on Technomate 1500 last week.
Only problem is the prime time programs don't start till 1am in morning
