    Hey,

So I tore my UCL (Ulnar collatoral ligament) and chipped a bone in my hand playing a rugby match. Basically the doctor says i wont be able to play for at least 6-8 weeks and I should stay away from using it for weights.

Before this injury I was doing rippletoes starting strength for the last couple of months and have been doing weights for over 2 years now.

I'm basically trying to put together a program I can use for the next couple of months so I dont loose my mind - or if anyone has had something similar and might have some suggestions...

If you're looking for "handless" exercises there aren't too many. Pistol squats, bodyweight lunges and pylometric jumps are some that I can think of.

You could use a leg press machine.I cant think of any upper body ones..

Glute ham raises is another one. Also lower body though.

There'd certainly be no harm in concentrating on you lower body while you recover.

Incidentally Jerry Flannery did an interview on radio recently where he was asked about what he does when suffering from an injury like the one he got prior to the Lions tour. He said he concentrated on trying to build up a bit more explosive power in his legs.

It won't take that long to build back up your upper body strength once you've recovered.

    thats actually quite motivating.
I'd probably get away with doing squats or front squats and back extension as well....
