Looks like we got our own Josef Fritzl.....
    http://newstalk.ie/newstalk/news/23542/woman-describes-childhood-of-rape-by-her-stepfather.html

A victim of an Irish Josef Fritzl has told Newstalk how she was imprisoned and raped by her stepfather from the age of 12.

In an exclusive interview on Moncrieff the woman - using the pseudoname "Catherine" told how she repeatedly tried to get help from authorities here without sucess.

During her ordeal she gave birth to five children and suffered one miscarriage.

In a harrowing half hour interview, Catherine described a decade of abuse.

Throughout her teenage years, she was held prisoner in a house miles away from her family she fathered 5 of her stepfather's children and suffered one miscarriage.

Now in her 40s, Catherine didn't manage to convince anyone of her ordeal until she finally met her husband who persuaded her to go to Gardai.

But the DPP decided not to take the case any further telling "Catherine" that the case against her stepfather would be "too hard to prove".

At one point she said "I gave up I wanted to die...that man will never ever ever know what he did to me".

Tte full interview is available as a podcast at http://newstalk.ie/newstalk/podcasts/10/highlights-from-the-moncrieff-show.xml

(think Newstalk should stop letting children write their news reports by the way...)

i would'nt be surprised in the slightest if there were Josef Fritzl type cases in ireland, i mean ireland was a very closed & insular society not so long ago

i.e industrial schools & mangdlene laundries

I always tell my kids not to let grey hair impress them, because SoB's also grow old....

This "socially respected", "hard working"" c**p means absolutely nothing. Guys like that should be chemically castrated, jailed, and the keys thrown out.

Its a toss up as to which is more awful - the report contents or its spelling.

To be serious I'd heard about this a while back on RTE radio. Nothing new.

Heard this on the radio today. It was pretty harrowing to listen to alright. Imagine the fooker is still walking around out there. It was like the institutional abuse cases all over again.

Lucky we only have the recession and lunatics running the asylum to deal with.

That can't be right, can it?

It wouldnt suprise me in the slightist if a case similar to Fritzel was uncovered in this country. I also wouldnt be suprised if it had tried to be supressed from public knowlage also.

Yes, actually quite alike Austria in that respect. They progressed earlier than us here though.

How can it be hard to prove? Can they not DNA test the stepfather?

Same here, I'm not the least surprised. We had institutionalised Fritzeling, ferchrisake.

Using "Josef Fritzl" in a radio report will increase its flagging listenership, thus enticing advertisers.

What pisses me off about that case is the fact the HSE tried removing the children on many occasions from that house , and the mother ( who wasn't the only person to sexually and psychically abuse the children the father also) got an order thingymajigy from harney herself, and her people or at least that high up against the HSE doing their job.

Yes she is mentally retarded (the mother) with an intelligence rate of 2% but that shouldn't even be brought into that article, she's not dumb enough to get the HSE off her back and abuse her kids. She was/is a sick twisted freakin ......

I knew a lot more about the case , than what is being said in the above link, and it pisses me off that she got away so many times, it also pisses me off that harney is blatenly(sp?) lying , that the HSE are being f*cked over with reporters and such saying they are at fault ... to top it off her husband gets away scott free. Seriously the political/mental health side to our country... wtf is going on..? And they want us to vote YES hahahaha Muppets!

The question was more in this sense than the literal. :D

Oh I know, but I'd still wager NewsTalk has resorted to going down the salacious road... :)

Don't think it's doin' too hot... :pac:

George Hook needs to be neutered. He sounds like an in-heat bloodhound on the trail of a particularly elusive slave.

You have to fight the impulse to wipe the front of the radio with a cloth when he's on... :D

Good, I thought it was just me. He talks really weird. Was he a sports commentator or something?

... and the Cynthia Owen one. :(

Don't like how elements of the media rub their hands with glee and turn these horrific cases into luridfests though...

Dunno about the Cynthia Owen one TBH, no DNA evidence and memories constructed from regression therapy with a hypnotist is a bit iffy for me.

2nd point is spot on though. Brass Eye's "Paedogeddon" was spot on. Thats why the press went to town on Chris Morris, he exposed them for the perverse fuks they are.

I'm gonna launch a campaing to get "fritzel" put into the OED as a verb.

"Did you hear about Mavis down the road? She got Fritzeled"

    "I thought she ran away!"

"Nope, apparently it was a Fritzelling"

    "Jaysus"

How is it not as bad????? You cant really compare the two.. each must be looked at individually.... This Roscommon case nor any other should be used as a barometer in abuse and neglect cases..

Still holds the record for complaints I think. They started ringing in before the show started.

I just find it funny that Fritzl is now becoming a verb rather than a surname
