lyx and bibtex styles

I need to use citations like this:

    (Smith 2000)
    (Smith and Jones 2000)
    (Smith et al. 2000)
    according to Smith (2000)

But I seem to be doing something wrong. I can't seem to find a predefined style that does it this way (even excluding the last one). I tried generating my own using makebst, but that turned out wrong also.

The only way I am getting it to work is by setting the citation format for every indivdual citation. Clearly this is not an optimal solution.

    Help?
