Hope someone can help. I have my Sky plus box connected to a Sony surround sound system. However when we watch TV the audio and picture are not in sync.
Anybody have any idea what I can do to correct this. The sky box is connected to the TV with a scart lead.

Hi Beeker I assume from your description that the SCART is going from the SKy+ box to the TV then a SCART lead from the TV to the Sony surround sound unit? I have experienced an issue when it is looped through the TV in this way it creates an audio sync issue. The best way to resolve the issue and to get true surround sound is to connect the Sky+ box directly to the surround sound unit using the SPDIF output on the Sky+ box. You would need a cable like this one here that is assuming there is a SPDIF input on the surround unit.

The sky+ box is connected by scart to the TV and by audio cables, 2 of them, red and white; from sky+ to the surround sound unit. Not sure if I have a SPDIF port on the surround sound unit, will have to check later when I get home.

    Thanks for the help!

you only have stereo. with the red and white ,

have a look at the manual that came with the surround system for optical input or may be coax input.
you can adjust the audio delay on the sky box (sorry cant remember the exact menu )

Go into the 'Sound Settings' menu and delay the audio by 40ms - that usually does the trick.

OK so i bought and connected up a SPDIF {Optical} cabel between my sky+ box and the surround sound system, I went into the sound settings on the sky box and change it to "dolby" but it had no effect. I cannot find any setting to delay the audio setting on the sky box, it is not in the "sound setting" section.

The audio sync is very bad on Virgin, Living channels but not on RTE 1?????
Really driving me mad at this stage. Anyone else have any idea what I can do?

There is on a hd box but i am not sure for the + box.

Have you done a reboot? Plug out the sky box for a min and re start.

there may be delay settings on the surround amp.

    Sky procedure for delaying sound

Dug around on the net and it seem that some Sky+ boxes have the option to delay the sound while others dont. Hmm dear old Sky

Thanks for trying, I printed off what I need and will check when I get home from work to see if it is possible from my Sky+ box.

    Thanks

Well got home and tried out what it said on the printout. Problem is there is no option to delay sound. Gave SKY a ring and they confirmed that that option is only available on the HD box and not on the + box!!!!!! So I at a loss again, its driving me mad at this stage.
