Will be going in to my new local CWO on thursday. Just to double check, students on BTEA can also get rent allowance? In other words its not just the basic e204 per week?

I've been looking into this myself as I'm trying to get Rent Allowance also.

As I currently understand it, if you were getting rent allowance before getting the BTEA then there should be no problem.

New rules state though that you have to be renting for 6 months before you are eligible for RA, so if you were living at home before going back to education you can't get it (for the first 6 months anyway).

I was told that I could fill out a Housing Assistance form to be and perhaps through that I could get it. I only picked up the form today though so I'm not really sure on exact details.

It was also implied to me that single males under 35 would be low priority for any housing scheme.

As I said, This is only my understanding of it, so if you hear anything, I'd be interested to hear.

will do. i was getting ra before college so hopefully it will sort itself out. my local cwo sees people 2 mornings a week for 2 hours each time but it is limited to the first 30 people that show up. I went on thursday over 50 mins before he was to open and was too late, and these people look down at us because we dont have a job?!

My parter has recently switched to btea, we were already receiving rent allowance. When I informed our cwo that he had switched to btea she said that we will continue to receive ra as usual and that nothing will change.
