Ok so I want to get back into jogging to get myself fit again. I ran the Dublin marathon in 2005 and ever since then i have been getting sore knees from time to time because I didn't have a proper pair of road runners when doing it (stupid I know).

Anyway I need a pair of runners that will be good for my knees while out jogging but not a pair that will cost me a fortune as I'm not exactly flushed with cash at the moment.

    Thanks in advance.

The extra couple of quid that you spend on a more "expensive" pair is well worth it for the amount of miles that your putting your poor feet through. Head along to a proper running shop and get them to check your running out, the likes of Amphibian King in Bray is where I tend to go but there are a couple of others in Dublin that do similar.

Im watching my cash aswell but if you do the maths...

And I know Im being "funny"...
The number of steps Vs the cost of the shoe?
Cheap runners - could hurt - might turn you off
Fancy runners - better protection - comfy, so youd be more willing to go out

The amount of damage cheap runners could do Vs having the right pair?
The cost of getting that damage seen to? Doctors fees & specialist fees?
    The price difference is negligible.

If youre going to stick with the running, the better shoes are defo the way to go.

Elverys in Dundrum were v helpful (free gait exam too)
I paid €80 for my New Balance

    G'luck

I'm the same - I always buy during sales. As mentioned, I'd take a trip to Elverys - I was there last week and spotted a few useful runners from as low as €45. Also, in the paper yesterday Sports World at Heatons, or whatever they're called (they seem to be everywhere, e.g. Carrickmines) seem to have some good prices.

Note, 'last seasons' colours/runners are cheaper, but are just as good as the new runners. Asics 2140 - the new colours are over €100 yet the 'old' colour range is about €80/90! Same shoe, just different colour! Elvery's will probably tell you if you go in!

If you want to do some research befor you go in anywhere, take a look at sites like:
    http://www.asics.co.uk/running/products/footwear
    www.champion.ie
    www.buy4now.ie/elverys

    That's what I always do

+1. I was in their branch in Swords the week before last. they've the Asics Nimbus for €84, it's at least €100 anywhere else i've seen it. They had one size (think it was 11) in €60 too for some reason.
