Hey guys, the tv in my bedroom has given up on me! It's an old CRT, pretty unknown make (iDeal), so not too surprised. Thought bout upgrading the bedroom tv before but had decided to leave it.

Now is your chance to convince me to replace it with a nice new LCD :)
Suggestions?

I'm thinking 32".

Very tempted by the 32LH4000 but dont know if I'll get a chance to get in and pick it up anytime soon.

Actually cant find much in the way of reviews of this model. Whats you personal experience with it?

Hi Chris_ie

Ok The 32PFL5404H is a HD Ready TV which we sell at €449.99 in store but as you are a Boardie your entitled to avail of our 10% Boardies discount, so the TV is yours for €404.99 once the discount is applied.

If you'd like the Full HD flavour of that set we have the 32PFL5604H which shares the same spec but is a 1080p TV.

This we sell for €549.99 in store but once again you can deduct your 10% Boardies discount from this price dropping it to €494.99 for yourself.

How does that sound to you???

Cheers
Ash

I'm usually skeptical about the 1080p on a 32" idea as I'm not sure if you'd really notice the difference. I would be leaning more to the 5604 side of things though (strange eh?)

Does it handle 24p or is it only the 5624 that would do that?

Ah the waiting, gimme your best price for the 7404 also. Dangerous leaving me too long, I'll buy the shop off you next!

• Closed Accounts Posts: 2,957 ✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Ashley

howdy

The 5604 will accept 1080p 24Hz/fps no worries.

I guess the main benefit of 1080p on a smaller screen is that the TV doesn't downscale the image to a lower native res but keeps all image detail and displays it correctly in all its glory (from BR, Sky/UPC HD sources etc)

Of course if the TV isn't going to be used to display FULL HD sources then the HD READY 5404 is the way to go and will save you a bit of cash as well eh! Oh the 5404 will accept 1080p 24Hz but downscales it to 768x1366

Hope this is helpfull.

Cheers

Could you deliver to Donegal? What price? Also how long to deliver.

Many thanks :)

Hi Chris_ie

Donegal? No worries at all, we ship lots of stuff to Boardies over there.

You'd be looking at €19.99 for that.

I'll have these TV's in stock end of week again, flying out for us at the mo...

If you pm me your phone number I'll give you a buzz and I'll convince you on that last 20%:D

Add you to the reserve list?

Chris,
Thanks a million for that the business is much appreciated - yep the video review http://whathifi.com/Video/Vidcast-reviewers-discuss-November-32in-TV-Supertest/Vidcasts/ is just a tiny taster - the actual review is way better!

Thanks again for the posts and always drop us a line if we can assist in any way,

No problem John :)

Btw the Onkyo-607 + MA setup I got off you a while back has been fantastic. Amazing when playing some DTS music off it too . Might be back to you at some stage for some stands as the ones I'm using aren't too great.

Chris_ie, if I remember correctly you went for the R90HDs like myself?

Although a tad pricey I went for the MA stands and I'm really glad I did - they are the dog's <insertwordhere/>.
Properly weighted vertical supports (heavier at bottom), sweet way of attaching to the speaker (fixed banana plugs on stand and bolts on for extra security), and then your speaker cables connect to the base of the stand. Also come with both rubber feet for wooden floors and a nice set of pretty lethal looking carpet spikes as an alternative.

Well worth a look. (detailed pics available on request :))

Yep those HD stands are the dog's dangly bits - but they ought to be as they are seriously expensive (even at our mad discounted pricing).

http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/assets/files/brochures/Radius-HD-Brochure-2009.pdf
This is the full Radius HD brochure (it's a fairly large file) and even in the brochure the pics dont do the finish and quality of the HD kit justice - including the stands as they are really heavy, cast stands with neat cable management (the 4mm sockets are on the base, really neat!) they are also available in Silver, Black or white.

We can do these at just £129.95 a pair and we have them in stock in most finishes.

Keep me posted,

Here's some pics of the details:

Hopefully you can see these - if not let me know.

The last one shows my front setup and is to explain the choice of Silver stands with Black speakers - matches quite nicely with my TV stand and kept the missus on side. I think I confused the heck out of Dave@Richer though, coz he'd never sold a Silver pair before and had to confirm my choice several times to make sure he wasn't seeing/hearing things. :)

Hey guys, got the TV today and the surround sound for my sister.

TV is fantastic! Can see why the reviews were so good. Worth the extra cash for it!

Sister is happy with her surround system too.

Cheers again guys!

yeah being a bit nerdy (anal I've been told) I love checking out other folks systems.......
I jumped head first into HD-DVD, I have 33 films on that format (GREAT investment that turned out....)
but then I also have 36 films on LaserDisc:D

only ever bought 3 films on VHS mind!

I proudly fly the Retro Format Flag!

Get's very little use - dust it off now and again to watch an occasional film that didn't make it to Blu-Ray (yet, or at least in my collection). It's not a regular part of the setup - hence the fact the wires are strung around the front of the stand leg.

I was late to the HD-DVD party - my PC can do both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray (with 7.1 surround and 24" 1920x1200 monitor :)) so I had a few disks of each format and then picked up the drive and a couple of other titles on EBay for very little.

Of course there is another side to my support of HD-DVD - John knows that bit. ;)
