    Anybody ?

Reason I ask is because I've often found a few stiff drinks works better for me at relieving pain than pain killers do. Have also heard the same from other people. Yet when I searched I could find nothing on it.

Then there was this article on bbc about alcohol potentially having a role in treatment of brain injury due to supposed anti-inflammatory effect

I'm curious as to whether alcohol has analgesic/anti-inflammatory effect all of its own seperate to pathways of things like NSAIDS etc.

Please don;t just keep bumping threads. If people know, then they'll tell you. Why don't you do a lit search?

Well I did a lit search before psoting and didn't find anything hugely revealing.

But I did just stumble across this video that kinda gives me some answers:

I don't know much about how it works, but it used to be used as for surgery before more effective anesthetic

A quick look around suggests it inhibits GABA which supresses the nervous system.
