    If you into Hillwalking as well as the bike you might get value though I never mount mine on the bike as apart from being able to track a new route for uploading it not do alot that My catseye cannot do.
    Even on the Hills I only use it to back up the Old map and Compass

    I use an Etrex on my MTB. It doesn't have on screen mapping - but lays an electronic 'breadcrumb' trail.
    It'll tell you your exact distance cycled, max speed, trip duration, altitude etc....
    You can also download the trails onto pc and overlay them onto maps to plot your covered route. (You can also reverse this process and plan a route and send to the etrex. )
    I used oziexplorer software for doing this.
    so all in all, it's a little better than a standard cycling computer and helpful off road as you can see your route already ridden.
