Okay, so I watched this last night (rather incredulously, as I try to avoid ****ty horror at all costs) after noticing that Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 100% and IMDB somewhere in the 8 region.

    I'm confused.

How on earth did this movie get such great reviews..? I understand it's a cult flick, and it's new, and it's sort of near Hallowe'en, I guess. And it's by no means bad, not at all. But it certainly doesn't warrant a 100%. Effects were shoddy, it was straight-to-dvd, majority of the plot made sense but one bit
    werewolf party?!
had nothing to do with anything at all.

Someone offer me some insight here. What made this movie so good?

I don't know.Saw it myself and was highly disappointed with it after all the great reviews. In fairness to it, I reckon if you were about 10 and saw it , you'd think it was the best horror you ever did see. Reminded me alot of the old creep show flics that I saw when they originally came out as a child and I used to love them.
However looking at it after watching horror movies for the best part of 30 years, I saw no originality or flair in it. I kind of liked the last bit with Brian Cox, thought there was some good throw back moments to evild dead 2 in it but all in all even the effects were fairly standard.
I much prefered Jack Brooks Monster Slayer or slither, which I thought were far better throw backs to 80 horror flicks.
