SKY Digibox RF2 Amplification

    Hi all,

I have a quick question regarding a slight loss of signal strength from my RF2 & RF1 socket on my digibox. I currently am running 2 tv'S in two different rooms and it works fine, bar a little bit of signal degradation. I have the RF1 from the digibox going straight to a DVD recorder which is connected to TV1. RF2 is going directly to TV2 in the second room. I need to amplify both these lines...or do I?

My question is: Would I be able to
1:Amplify the RF2 output going to the second tv
2:Split this amplified signal where one is going to the 2nd TV and the other is going into the aerial input of the DVD recorder on my first TV? If I could do this then I would not need RF1 and hence one amp would do the trick.
My main worry with this set up is that with the RF2 9Volt power on, I was wondering would/could this damage my DVD recorder?

I hope I have made myself clear and if anyone can help Twould be much appreciated.
    Thanks:)

If you are using the rf1 feed for the dvd recorder then u should not need to amplify anything. The rf2 feed is intended for second tvs in order rooms, one room will work perfectly fine from rf2, additional rooms can be added by use of a bi-directional digital distribution amp such as the GLOBAL RANGE F14O Amp for 4 rooms etc.

If you are getting interference then its possible the frequency you are using is too close to something else such as the dvd recorder aerial etc..

You can change the frequency by pressing
    Service
    Press 4
    now press 0,1, select
then option 4 and change the number from 68 to something else and retune tvs to the new freq etc..

Thanks Steveon, I will try those channels...I think they are from 21 to 68!

When you mentioned there is no need to amplify the RF1, do you mean that the RFI has already been amplified by the digibox?

I think the terrestrial channels might need a bit of a boost before they come to the digibox!!

    Thanks again.

Neither the rf 1 or 2 are amplified...the only difference between 1 and 2 is that 2 enables power to travel both ways for connection of a magic eye. If you have terrestrial channels i.e. an aerial going into the input of the skybox this is a likely cause for your interference...change the output of the sky box to try and remove it..
