Where can I buy cheap run flat tyres in Dublin - 205/50ZR/17 or does anyone have any idea how much they cost?

    Thanks

Ring around for prices - most places should be able to get them for you fairly quickly if they don't have them in stock already.

    Thanks zing,

Got a price of €215 for a bridgestone or €140 for a Nokia. Must ring a few more garages...

    what are they for ?

If its a BMW M Sport of some sort - do yourself a favour and buy normal tyres - the ride comfort is astonishingly better without them stupid run flats !

Yes, its for a BMW 1 series.

Could I put a normal tyre on without changing the other 3? Don't want the expense of having to change all 4 tyres

By rights, you should be changing the tyres by the axle - i.e. in pairs. Its usually frowned upon to change just one tyre, unless its opposite has good thread left.

As for normal tyres, I dont think the newer BMW wheels can take anything but runflats - something to do with the rim design, according to a BMW service manager. I'd also think its a bad idea putting a normal tyre on with three other runflats.

The other tyres are fine, good thread depth on them. The tyre that needs to be changed keeps tripping the low pressure indicator. Got this tyre plugged last year when a nail went through it and has been fine up til last week. It's going off every second day now......so a new tyre needed I think!!

Is it possible to get it re-plugged???

    Thanks

If your only buying one - get the same as is already on it.

BTW your not supposed to fix run flats ?

And lastly BMW rims are fine with any sort of tyre - I have put non run flats on mine as have alot of 3 series owners.

If I were you I would spend 400 on 4 new Kumohs and 20 on a get you home kit - the difference is amazing.

BMW have adopted run flat technology too soon in my opinion. Certainly for our roads.

How old is this car? If out of warranty I'd slowly but surely replace each one with a normal tyre.

The ride quality is an absolute disgrace with them.

Is it possible to replace an BMW 3 M Sport '09 run flat tyres with normal tyres?
I think I read somwhere that the suspension was tunes for run flats and replacing with normal tyres will have your dash flashing with warning lights?

Well there seems to be a place for a spare in the boot

Yes you can replace the run flats with regular tyres and owners will tell that ride comfort is greatly increased. BMW dealers also sell a spare tyre kit which includes a space saver tyre, wheel jack and wheel brace.

BTW don't forget to inform your insurance company of this, they have no issue with them but technically you are modifying the car from the original factory spec so full disclosure is advised.
