I was considering including this in the evolution thread (or the losing faith in humanity..), but if this doesn't count as <insert nastiest word possible here> propaganda then I don't really know what does anymore..

For those of you too lazy to watch the video, it's basically about the free distrubtion of a 'modified' copy of Darwin's good book with the added inclusions of his idea directly influencing Hitler, Darwin being anti-feminist,racist and atheist and his theory being full of holes...
What irks me the most though, is that the vid was an appeal to the vulnerable to fund this propaganda...

Having said that, I think a free book is nice : just remember to rip out the sh1t at the beginning.;)
(Any chance of a distribution in the Irish Universities?)

Or, you know, you could just download the full original text without Ray Facepalm's catastrophic misunderstandings of very basic science included.

    http://publicliterature.org/pdf/otoos610.pdf

You could even import it into word and give it a fancy olde worlde fonte. Then print it out and get it bound at the Thesis centre or something. That's gotta look better than this crap. Or if that's too much hassle, the book can be found in many second hand bookstores for basically no money at all. Comes complete with a well-worn, academic look. Hell, I'm pretty brand new copies a dirt cheap.

Shouldn't this be in Christianity ? Seems to be a religion vs evolution issue, not an atheism issue.

Actually I'm wondering what their view of this would be, support it or not.

I think its disgusting actually, to deface someones work and add your own propaganda.

Surely theres something people can do ? Isn't Dawkins or any academics making any statement about this ?

You know what. Its defamation of character to associate Darwin with hitler. I dont know if they can get called on that considering he passed but its slanderous either way...

Does this mean I can re-write the bible with added humour? I'd assume it's considered out of copyright by now as it's more than what 70 years old?

I reckon it is funny enough on its own without a re-write....

How about a sci-fi version where Jesus shoots laser beams out of his eyes?

PZ Myers brought it up a few weeks back. Not sure what anyone can do other than express disdain.

When you look at the way they take quotes out of context, or selectively quote small extracts to give the appearance of the auther supporting their belief, I tihnk it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

I think the best they can do is to not give it any free publicity.

A stupid question that would no doubt be answered if I had headphones with me and could watch the video, but where is it being distributed for free?

Not that any answer will make me any less sickened.

I also agree that people shouldn't speak out against it unless it gets significant publicity on its own.

"It exposes the unscientific belief that nothing created everything"

Which has got what exactly to do with Neo-Darwinian biological evolution ...

That's got to be the best for a book promo ever!

Malty that video shows us atheists as mostly a polite bunch. I'd probably tell him where to go for asking stupid questions.

Disagree. Comfort and co. were hoping to sneak this one into the colleges, just as they've been trying to sneak this BS into schools for decades. Make some noise. Say no, get away, tell an adult.

Jerry Coyne is not happy about it, either. I'll be surprised if RD doesn't say something, I just suspect he's going to do it properly e.g. at the AAI Convention this weekend, or on Bill Maher's Real Time show on Friday.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
