I have always been a connoisseur of cheese and onion crisps. I've been a fan of them all my life. I think the nicest tasting crisps I have tasted in years have been the newish Tayto Bistro home fried range. They have a gorgeous flavour. Anyone else agree ?

Anyone out there have other preferences ?

Discos were the big losers in the MSG crack down. They used to be The Crisp. Remember the glory days when they used to have sachets inside of them? Extra salt in the salt & Vinegar one etc... They're an okay crisp now, but like so many of its fallen comrades, it's just not the same...

    Chipsticks
    Meanies
    Hot lips
    Thai Rings

I like Hunky Dorys Cheese and Onion. I also like the crisps you get with a Sandwich in O'Briens. They seem to be simillar

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 475 ✭✭potsy11

    Monster Munch all the way...

Why did they have to change the flavour about 10 years ago?

    Never really got over that!

Tayto Salt & Vinegar are the crisp of choice now.

bring them to the next beers;)

Now, for me it'd have to be BBQ Hula Hoops or Meanies.

But years ago, it'd have to be Crunchos, if anyone remembers them. Hot dog flavour, looked like Nik Naks.

Does anyone remember Bag O' Chips? I think they were made by Perri. And crisps that were just called Curry Chips. Curry flavour Chipsticks basically, they were great.

BEFORE they took them off the market due to the illegal or odd thing in them that was making them sooooo addictive:D

Oh God, too many to choose from.. I suppose at a push it would have to be Tayto c&o.. love any thing I can put between 2 slices of bread tbh so that kinda broadens it to ALL crisps :D

    SKIPS FTW!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 644 ✭✭✭Mackleton

I am a self confessed crisp-a-holic my favourites include:

Tayto cheese & onion: for a crisp sandwich only, too cheesy on their own
Mighty Munch: for that moreish cruchy crisp!
    Beef Hula Hoops
    Burger Bites
    Chickatees
    Treble Crunch
    Walkers Salt and Vinegar
    Snackajacks

But the king of all crisps I discovered when living in France, and was devastated to find they aren't available anywhere else - they were peanut butter flavour corn snacks, my god, they were heaven in a bag!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 106 ✭✭cherryred

the man and I have recently become keen fans of NikNaks RibnSaucy, hhhmm delicious.

Strictly in terms of crisps I favour Hunky Dorys Buffalo, but for a crisp sandwiche it must be Tayto Salt and Vinegar

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 48 jrd_old

Hmmm... its a toss up between hunky dories cheese and onion and tayto cheese and onion... Must be accompanied by a cold beer.

Hate those weird flavoured crisps.. had a packet of roast chicken and thyme crisps by accident in france once.. yuck!
