Vodafone BB Speeds

Some advice needed here, please. Have been with BT for the last number of years with 1 Mb Broadband. Speed tests showed 800Kb download with 110Kb upload, however at the router it always showed 1000Kb download. I understand contentions rates and line quality etc, reducing speed. I am now with Vodafone and on 7.6Mb. Have had problems with my line at the beginning, but was sorted by a call from a telecom technician, with line capable of handling 9Mb afterwards. I got my profile changed from 5Mb to the 7.6Mb after the problems. However I have only once seen 7.6 Mb listed on the router, always around 6.4Mb the upload is always 672Kb. Forgetting about the speed tests for a moment, should the reading on the router return my rate from VF? Thanks for any Info.

I aint no expert but I think the with adsl you have a 10% "overhead", in basic terms reduce your modem sync rate by 10% and that will be your max speed, see this link for an explanation http://pflog.net/dsl_overhead/....I hope that helps.
