From what I've read, it doesn't sound too promising, but will ask the question anyway.
Is anyone able to get this package on 5E without having to resort to a whale of a dish??

Have a T90 but whilst I can get the other packages, don't seem to be able to get a signal for this one - on the first attempt in any case...

Sorry Eurorunner, but seems that you vill not get this beam :(
    http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/sirius4_nordicb.html
That means your Latvian mates will not see their channels.

It depends what part of the country u are in.The more north east you go the better the signal.

A 1.5m quality dish with proper matching lnb should just about do it in north east ireland, much larger required in the west id say.In Dublin most of the vertical frequencys are available on a 1.2m.

I'm in East Mayo. Gave it an hours worth of tuning in yesterday evening but the signal didn't even move off baseline for the TV5 Latvia transponder. Then again, its a T90 so I guess between location and dish size, its a non-runner. Using alps slimline quad lnb btw...

what type of box are you using, I use a technomate 1000dsuper and a 1.2metre dish that is giving me 19, 13 and 5east no problem.

However when I look at the signal on 5e it shows none on the signal levels on the box but every channel possibly available on the european beam comes in no problem...I have also been able to put this in for a few people on a 80cm dish and also hotbird 13 from the same dish...

Eurorunner’s question was about Viasat Baltic channels. Cold you check if you are receiving those channels:
    3+Baltics
    3+Baltics E
    LTV1
    LTV7
    LNT Latvia
    TV5
    TV6 Latvia
I have heard that couple of years ago it was possible in Ireland but not anymore.

Ive tried many many times to get nordic beam of 5 east here in mayo with a 1.1m. Never got a sniff.

I do remember a long time ago on a good clear day i used to be able to get some channels.

I know friends in East UK have no problems with a 80cm.

Don't know anything about these receivers tbh. I presume it's possible to tune non-Viasat channels?

ARTE HD (France) on Hotbird is on this transponder: 11681 mHz, horizontal polarity, SR 27500 & it's a DVB-S2 8PSK transmission.

But the problem is that two 5 digit number of : Low and hight LO Frequency
U find them when you set the box.
My LNB and the sky Dish are already in analog receiver oriented on Hotbird.

The LO for a 'universal' lnb will be 9,750 mHz for low band, 10,600 mHz for high band.

Why would you have an analogue receiver on Hotbird?

Maybe you're actually on the former Atlantic Bird 5, now Eutelsat 5 West A?

No, on hotbird 13 l guess, l'm watching TV5 europ and TV monde.
I used to have Arte as well. but the last november they said , u need an MPG4 receiver, so l found the HD box on donedeal. it is" VIASAT HD, PACE" l bought it with a cheap prince.
So l kept the dish like it was and just replaced the box. some said to me, u get Arte, on Nilsat with analog.
maybe l get an other HD receiver and are expensive the TNT one.

If your dish is aligned on 13 east & you're entering those tp parameters in the right place, I don't see why it wouldn't work. What do you use the analogue receiver for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75 ✭✭Medceltic

I really dont know how to get a cheap HD hotbird receiver. for ARTE and free french channels, or maybe l turn the dish to Nilsat or Atlantic bird ??/
