Anyone have any knowledge of why a well serviced one owner from new '02, new shape, Hyundai Coupe 1.6 with 50k would splutter an conk out on a regular basis??

It was diagnosed as needing a new air flow meter which it got at great expense. It didn't work. The engine management light comes on and it loses power and occasionally splutters and has been known to conk out entirely.

The only other possible symptom is that the key fob never really worked and as you drive, the door locks regularly lock and unlock randomly whcih made me consider it may be an immobiliser problem.

Maybe its the trottle bottle its self thats at fault, a good
    clean might help.
As for the immobiliser best to get it sorted, don't what it failing
on you totally, maybe Hyundai/Car alarm specialised could help.
Could be as simple as a faulty fob, buttons not hitting the contacts
    as they should.
