Unfortunately, if you wish to take up fullbore (larger calibre) handgun shooting, the door is closed for now. However, if you would consider shooting smaller .22LR pistols or .177 air pistols in Olympic type competition, you should have little trouble. Where are you based and we can recommend a club for you to try it and get an idea of what's involved. Or have you considered previously what sort of shooting you'd like to do?

From Dublin, your best bets are Bohernabreena Rifle Club, Dublin Rifle Club, Hilltop and Rathdrum Rifle and Pistol Club. All will be good, but for different ends. A good idea would be to arrange to visit them all. They're all very accommodating and you'll have a clearer picture then of what you want to do.
