Hey guys,

I'm currently on the lookout to purchase a new acoustic guitar and I'm set on Martin this time around. I tried a Martin DX1R there recently, just like the DX1but with a rosewood finish and it was awesome. Howvere I can't find the DX1 model which is supposed to be completely different. I would only be able to order it over thomann.de. Can anyone advise me on which is the better of the two!?

Well a DX1 and DX1R are identical in every way except the finish of the HPL. The wood on both is exactly the same, just one made to look like Rosewood and one made to look like mahogany. They should sound pretty much the same.

Whoever is telling you they are different is probably assuming the back and sides are actually rosewood or mahogany, which would then make a difference.
