    Had a disaster yesterday.

I left my Canon ID MKII N out on the kitchen table when one of my girlfriends children decided to start playing with it. I was out at a match. I came home & nearly had a heart attack.

Looking at the camera, it looks like he has ripped the top part of the shutter apart and scrapped the bottom part.

Any idea's where to go to get it checked out?

    Aaaaaaghhhh...

I donnt think that I could maintain my cool if this happened to me...

anyway ... Image Supply Systems are the registered Canon SLR service agents....they are probably the best folks to go to...they did some work for me recently and were fine...

    Best of luck with it...

So you're looking for a new girlfriend?? :)

I've just had the Mirror box assembly replaced on my camera. It looked similar to this when damaged. None of the repair outlets in Dublin could fix it so it had to be sent to Canon in the UK to have it replaced as it needs to be calibrated to align it correctly again and they didn't have the equipment to do it.

It took a LONG time to get it fixed though (7-8 weeks) and it was pricy enough. Just so you know.

PM or ring me if you want more details.

Had to be nice about it. Getting married to her next June. :D

It was a big step down shooting with my 400d this morning.

See if anyone might steal it and then report it to the insurance company??

This is why you don't leave kit within range of children - as my daughter learned the hard way!

If you're insured, the insurance company may pay for any repairs. Also, if you're registered with CPS, you should have it repaired and returned in a week.

Hopefully it's less serious than it looks.

I would still be pulling my hair out ....................Go with the old saying '' once bitten - twice shy ''

And report this to your insurance co. immediately ,
I've know of times when cameras have been robbed from cars . It does happen you know !

Get on to your insurance asap. It is accidental damage afterall, a lot of policies do cover things like this.
