DTT Tests in Media Centre 7

OK, I have MC7 set-up and receiving all FTA satellite channels I want plus all the UK Freeview channels, so how do I go about adding the ROI channels? Are there any extra codecs involved in this that I need to download for it to work? I have scanned under both the UK and Ireland settings and nothing is coming up. I can receive the signals on a cheapo STB but it only gives me audio as the STB is MPEG2 only. Something isn;t right somewhere if MC7 can't pick them up... any ideas?

i am getting the feeling that maybe it is the case that noone on the board here has actually managed to pick up the trial from Clermont Carn using any kind of DVB-T tuner on their PC - i think if someone had managed it they would have helped us all out here :)

so just in case i'll ask the question again
Has anyone managed to pick up the Irish DTT trial from Clermont Carn (that the one you use PaddyC ?) using a PC based DVB-T tuner/dongle and if so what exact frequency are you using
.i.e I suspect it may not be exactly 730 000 Khz(C 53) - it may be an exact number of Khz above or below it ?

I think theres an exact frequency here that noone has managed to figure out which needs to be scanned when using a PC based DVB-T tuner

    Anyone ?

Am picking up Irish DTT channels from Clermont Cairn on Ch. 53 (730,000 kHz) using a cheapo USB dongle bought from DealXtreme. A H264 codec is required if using Win-Xp.

MC7 has the codec built in so it should show up on a scan, but I'm getting nothing....

I'm getting nothing with an AverMedia dongle in MC, but it works fine natively.

I read on another thread that you need Windows 7 for this to work - Is MC 7 only on that platform?

Media Centre 7 is only available on Windows 7, yes.

I have also tried Media Portal and DVBDream but still cannot find a signal. :(

What strength signal are you getting on the STB?

DVB-T PC cards sometimes need that bit of extra signal strength / quality to work.

If people are picking up the DTT on channel 53 using set top boxes, then it will be the same for a DVB-T card.

On the signal strength bar on the STB it's about 35-40% full and it says "Medium" and is the exact same strength as one of the Freeview MUX's from Divis. That MUX comes up fine in a scan in the PC, so I don't know why the RTÉ MUX doesn't.

    PaddyC

try this software - it also allows manual addition of transponders / frequencies and might be worth a go - works well on UK freeview -
