i am shocked and horrified at the complete lack of driving skills constantly displayed on the m50. cars doing 80 - 90 mph and crossing 3 lanes onto the hard sholder to UNDERTAKE then going across 3 lanes to get back into the fast lane!!. and dont get me started on the "fast lane parkers" PLS DRIVE IN THE LEFT MOST CLEAR LANE FFS REGARDLESS OF YOUR SPEED. i.e if you are driving a 60 mph in a 60 zone and the middle lane is clear for a distance in front of you PULL THE FCUK OVER. YOU ARE NOT A SPEED LIMITER IF PPL THAT WANT TO GO FASTER THAN YOU OR THE SPEED LIMIT HAVE TO UNDERTAKE YOU IN THE MIDDLE LANE YOU ARE A HAZARD.

this week there has been a constant display of frankly retarded behavior on our roads and now i realise why we need redundant adverts to show us how to use roundabouts that fail to take into account the fact that all roundabouts are useless because they all have FCKING TRAFFIC LIGHTS ON THEM !!!!!!

    /endrant

    thank you

The hatch markings at the redone junctions are completely ignored by a huge number of drivers who cross in and out across them all thetime. Those plastic flexible pots should be put in along the middle of the hatchings.

Another one that pisses me off is that when people come down the on ramps , say from the red cow coming from clondalkin heading to Tallaght, The ones that come aroudn on the inside all suddenly HAVE to battle their way to the right lane of the slip into the lane that dissappears abruply onto the main carriageway, instead of staying in the left lane they are already in and merging further up where the slip road stays all the was and they can merge when its easier and safer. All that happens is a compact line of cars all try to merge in 20 yards of space and it leads to much braking from mergers and traffic on the motorway.

Your also guarenteed that 90% of cars that are on the slip to merge will pull out to the middle lane almost straight away, regardless that theres no traffic in the inside lane.

I don't think those roundabout ads are redundant at all - I drive through a hell of a lot of them every day (very few of which are light controlled) - they do all have one thing in common though - idiots that don't understand how to use them.

Every day I get overtaken on the inside lane of a two lane approach to a roundabout by some git going straight on - this is who these adverts are aimed at.

LEFT LANE FOR GOING STRAIGHT ON UNLESS ROAD MARKINGS STATE OTHERWISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomayto/Tomato to be honest. I couldn't give a hoot if they call it 'Stealthyspeeders passion lane' once they use it properly

Yeah but a change in peoples thinking on the name can only help in changing their use of it. "fast lane" has idiots thinking "ah sure I'm going fast" . "overtaking lane" suggests you should only be there to overtake.

The problem with this is that the road markings are generally only at the roundabout. So if you are driving as per normal and approaching aroundabout you don't know you will drive in the left lane and by the time you find out that you are in the wrong lane then you are commited. There should be roadside signage before roundabouts that don't follow normal rules so people who actually pay attention to them type of things have a chance of getting into the correct lane.

There'd be no undertaking if the overtaking lane was used properly.

Absolutely, and the road markings are usually under a car in front of you.

Big +1. Most markings are actually only on the road at the entrance to the roundabout. So if you approached the roundabout assuming general rules, it may be too late to change once you actually see the contrary indications (assuming you can see them at all).

The roundabout for Sallins/Naas once you come off at J9 on the N7 is one such roundabout.

Yes good point but most roundabouts follow the general rule - the ones from the m50 roundabout to Dundrum shopping centre are a good example of what you all say - left is for left only, right is for straight on or right and this is not apparent until you are on it - however I now know the correct way to drive these, not many others seem to.
