Dell XPS problem

    Hi All,

I am not an IT expert, however I am using a Dell XPS M1530 for 2 years. It is dual core 2.4 with 4GB memory and has the best specifications possibily it could be taken with at that time.

Unfortunatelly, it has crashed recently due to my fault (it was hit very hard on the bottom right corner) and got the HDD replaced. I reinstalled everything on the disk from the scratch. Since then it is making a BEEP sound once in a while, lets say once in an hour or so. Also, I noticed that has gotten quite slow as well. Even it is working fine, I just do not feel like is reliable system anymore and start to hesitate to work on it.

Any suggessions and help on bringing back on business will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Odd.

Try reseating your RAM and your harddisk. It might just be a loose part.

Thanks for your response. You meant just take them out and put them back?

    Pretty much.

I had the beeping problem. HDD was just loose. Reseated it and now it's fine.

Could be a problem with the new hard drive you replaced the old one with. Another user had a beeping noise coming from their hard drive here on boards (I believe it was a Western Digital drive) and the tech support they emailed told them it could be a warning sign of drive failure. Was it brand new the repacement hard drive?
Also after a wipe and reinstall, even with vista, it should be pretty nippy with 4GB of ram on a clean install.
