I ordered a dell mini from the outlet store last night for €190 with 16gb SSD. Didn't cop that it has ubuntu and not windows till after I paid for it:o. I've never used this before, is it easy? The mini would mostly be used for surfing and email. I'm not sure if I should cancel or not. I'm well used to mac and windows but not a clue about this one!

If that's all you're going to be using it for then it should be a doddle. Ubuntu is great.

Thanks for the replies, that is a relief. I might not cancel after all if that's the case:)

Just remember that it's *not* Windows, and you should be fine. It handles things like updates and software installation in it's own way. Whether it's better or not is personal opinion, but it's certainly different.

I use it day to day, and I do tend to prefer it. Especially things like software updates.... which update everything on your system, not just the OS

If ur in Dublin Ill put windows xp on it for you no problem. Should take a about 2 hours with drivers and updates.

Ive been looking at these and would love to have hands on before I buy one!

Sounds good! I'm in Galway but I'm in Dublin a fair bit. How much would it cost to put windows on it, and would 16gb ssd be enough for XP?

Dartz, is it easy enough to connect to wireless? Once I'm in firefox will it be almost the same as when I'm on firefox on vista? Sorry these questions probably sound ridiculous:o

    Yeah...

I've less problems connecting to networks with Linux, than with Windows. Trust me, once you get into the the swing of it, you'll end up installing it on just about anything.

Ill do it for free, I have a load of old xp licences.
16gb is plenty for xp, but vista would not be a good choice as its nearly 5gb.
