Switching insurance to Quinn Direct

I (17yo male driver with learner permit) would like to add myself to a named driver on my mother's insurance policy. Quinn Direct seem to have the cheapest quote.

What needs to be done in order to switch my mother's policy to Quinn. She currently is with Zurich, which she got through her broker, Cornmarket (where she gets a nurse's discount). Her policy isn't due to expiry until May 2010. Will she have to cancel her insurance with Zurich/Cornmarket first before she applies for insurance with Quinn? Also, will she get a rebate on all of the policy that is remaining?

How do you prove your no claims bonus to Quinn - as the insurance is bought online, how do you show them the certificate of no claims?

Are you insured to drive from the policy start date you select, even if you have not received the necessary documents, e.g insurance disc?

    Thanks for reading.

The insurance with Zurich should be cancelled before the start of the Quinn policy.

Zurich will refund the premium, most likely at a percentage rate based on how long is left on the policy, but some money will be lost.

Quinn will ask for the proof of no claims to be posted to them. Remember that your mother will probably lose the last four months of no claims.

You can drive without the disc but if you're stopped the Gardai will give you about 10 days to bring the documents in.
