Looks like he's going to try to get us all to draw a random picture and see if they match the one he has on a card at the end of the show.

    Or something like that.

It's just starting Channel 4 now

I drew a grandfather clock for some reason! I heard the curtains thing and thought that would be way too obvious, and the same with the boat thing

is remote viewing and deja-vu linked in some way?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,681 ✭✭✭Johnny_the_fox

its pointing towards a boat or bridge - just from the camera images.

the words he is using within the program like 'wet' and 'boat' after the drawing have been done.

I was going to draw a boat but for some reason I drew a bike.

    This is what I drew:

I drew a nail first then several derivatives settling on a mushroom. A mushroom relates to stone henge and concentric circles. a mushroom from below would be concentric circles. let's see.

What the fukk is a phychic?

This is just one mistake I don't understand. Just before anyone calls me pedantic, I just don't get it. Ph is an f- sound. Psychic clearly starts with an s- sound. How can the two be confused like that ??

Also I missed Derren =( I was curious to see what the show would be like

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 749 ✭✭✭niallk

It's Derren's way of explaining that the picture wasn't a free choice and was in fact influenced by him. And he then went on to influence the audience and the viewers to the same efect.

Three concentric circles, she (artist) said it was stonehenge from a birds eye view but i think it was all ****e and she was in on it, she was in a "deprivation chamber" and at the end she was let out and lo and behold was in stonehenge, but didnt register shock or surprise at being there

Also i put circles down despite not reading any paper except the Irish news this week and watching very little tv but i figured out what i wrote below right when it was her close up

How i think he did it was,
When we were "focusing on the artist" up close there were actually three circles right in our face, in her eyes. Two normal circles there ( the iris and other part) and the third circle was the reflection of the circular light used for the camera

    Just my thoughts anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,328 ✭✭✭✭Busi_Girl08

I got hearts and figure 8s...

All I was thinking was that it was something with "curves".
    So I wasn't completely off...

But my friend IMed me and she said she drew concentric circles and stonehenge...I guess it doesn't work for everyone...

Still think Derren rocks though :)

I didnt get the picture,, but i still thought it was really good!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭consultech

Yeah I was fixated on her huge (very nice) eyes in the close-up, which were clearly reflecting what obviously looked like circles in hindsight. I think she was chosen for that reason too, as her eyes were very powerful. She could well have been in on it too, or at the very least was easily influenced by DB's freak powers of suggestion prior to her doing her drawing.

Also curious to see a slightly ruthless side of him ripping the crazy American "expert"s credentials up. The batman guy had skills to pay the bills aswell, very impressive.

All in all it was essentially more carefully-placed DB trickery. Witch bastard.

While I agree as how thats he got us to draw it, how did he get her to draw what he wanted is my question....

Derren uses (as he admits at the beginning of the show) suggestability, trickery, magic, illusion, whatever he can do to control the outcome he desires.

Derren most probably used suggestability prior/during talking to the curator before she drew the circles. He could have well placed imagery of concentric circles/stonehenge in her mind then. In fact, it's most definitely what he did.

Secondly, placing of the concentric circles on the newspapers was a fantastic example of PWA (perception without awareness) - i.e. our subconcious minds absorbing things that our concious minds do not see (a form of subliminal messaging!)

It's actually very very scary to think that people (albeit very skilled people) can control how other people act, you saw the way he turned that random joe soap in the cafe into a sleeper assasin/theif!!

Hope that's cleared up things for you guys!

Well it could be one of two things, either as hada said or she could have been in on it from the start

I think she was in on it, her reaction to being in stonehenge (or total lack of reaction) said alot, if that was you and you had drawn something totally on your own say of croke park and you were put in an isolation booth. Then the reveal comes up, you are gonna say something along the lines of

HOLY SHÍT DERREN BROWN YOU ARE THE SON OF THE DEVIL!!!!:eek::eek:

Or if you are in on it your reaction would be "oh...........wow.......croke park" which is pretty much what her reaction was

Thats true but anyone familliar with Derren Browne wouldn't be amazed of him getting it right, and somethings when yer surpised you don't freak out over it.

I've been thinking on it and I think he was giving her subliminal messages for weeks before hand like he's done before, also using other people to deliver them??? possible?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 409 ✭✭qwytre

There were plenty of other things in the programme and said by Derren that would prompt people to draw stonehenge or something that looked like it.

    - there were other pictures hanging on the walls in the background to where the covered picture was on display. They were paintings of circles and cirlces within circles

    - Derren mentioned "the south of england" at least once. Stonehenge is in the south

    - the artists eyes are the obvious ones

    He does not use magic.

I don't believe Derren's explanation for it, that seemed altogether too vague and unlikely for it to work on whatever amount of people it worked on. I'd say everything he did to get us to draw concentric circles was done within the show, he just won't give us the truth so as we won't understand what he's really doing, and thus he won't fool us in future. I love the man's work, but I have noticed over the last little while that there has been a drop in the quality of his work, I think he's pretty much just getting lazy or has run out of sensational things to do.

But seriously, do not believe his explanations for the things he does - it's in his best interest for you not to know, he would not tell you if he had no reason to. He says at the beginning of some of his shows how he uses misdirection - what makes you think that this isn't part of the misdirection?

magic is quite a wide term that applies to a range of specialities. So I apologise for using it so broadly. But he does bill himself as a magician which would infer he does use magic in some form or other. (Derren actually started out doing really good close up card magic before he got into the more "tricks of the mind" stuff...much cooler now)

Did not work for me this week, was so disappointed.
I drew a box, a cat, a hand, grapes and some zig zag things.
    Still enjoyed the show.
