Getting rid of multiroom

Hi, maybe someone can help me with a cost cutting question! I have sky plus on my main TV and a standard sky box in a second room with a multiroom subscription.

Could I cancel the multiroom and get a freesat box to work in the second room, while SKY plus would still be set up on the main tv? (IE, saving of circa 15 euro per month on the multiroom cancellation, while getting a good few channels through a freesat box on the second tv)

I would like the functionality of a dedicated freesat box rather than having to go in to 'other channels' on the sky box to view ITV etc.

    Thanks!

If you take the Irish Sky card out of the 2nd box it may reset to the Uk settings, saving you having to pay out for a freesat box.

    Thanks,

Would that mean that ITV etc. would be available on the 'normal' channel setup rather than hidden in the submenus Services/Other channels?

    Yeah BBc 1 & 2, Itv and Ch4 would replace RTE, TV3 and TG4

Hi, thanks for the info in this thread, I've decided to try and save some money by canceling a multi-room box also.

If you don't mind could you confirm my understanding of the procedure that will end up with me getting BBC, ITV & Channel 4 through my SKY box after I've canceled the SKY Multi-room.

    1. You ring up SKY and cancel the individual multi-room box.
    - They don't collect the box OR card.
    2. Once it's canceled you remove the card and the box will work the same as a Free-Sat box.

    IS THIS CORRECT?

    Extra Question (maybe obvious)...
Can you cancel the multi-room box for a period and then re-start the subscription?

    Thanks for your help, Nigel
