Sure they could get loads of this info in a phone book.

They aggregate it. If you respond at all, they know you are most likely a dumbass, and you read your eMail. They gather more and more info about you, and sell it to more daring, or dumber criminals..

So, some time later, you will get an eMail stating "Dear Mr Dumbass, of 99 Numpty Street, Gullible City. As a customer of Numpty Bank we are contacting you with an URGENT security message.

Your Internet Banking credentials have been compromised and we have taken the precaution of locking your account to prevent any misuse.

If you wish to reactivate your account, or use an ATM this weekend, you MUST respond immediately to confirm your name, address, phone number and bank account details.

If you fail to respond to this email, we will have to lock your account, charge you 50 eurines for the trouble and you will have no banking facilities ever again, for ever, no messing".

I always find it hard to believe someone falls for this. But as you say there is always one. Is there anything else more then try get? Just wondering

You can always say you're a rich business tycoon who's looking to spend a couple of weeks in their 'apartment'.

Say something like you own a toilet company called 'Flushing Meadows'. Also give yourself a funny name. I use Moe Lester for things like this.

Ask them for a picture of themselves before you can 'negotiate further'. Most of the time it's going to be an African person with 419 scams, even if it does say Australia in the email.

Creditcard numbers, paypal accounts, PRSI numbers, passport numbers, family members names - anything real and personal has value.
