OK my 3rd and final attempt at some help on this page.

Have my pc hooked up to my tv via hdmi to dvi.

Am running a red and black audio lead from the tv to my sound card but the sound is about 1 second behind the picture, any way i can fix this?

What audio out options do you have from the TV and what one are you using currently?

Not sure what you have already tried but it sounds like a codec issue.

Try Installing FFDShow (google it) then change the Video and Sound codecs Media Centre uses to FFDShow.

Microsoft do a prog for changing the codecs XP Media Centre uses (google), they dont have one for Vista but there is a third party one here: http://mediacenterexpert.blogspot.com/2006/07/vista-media-center-decoder-utility.html

You will have to disable UAC if using Vista for the decoder utility to work.

Heres a copy of the inputs on my tv here.

I currently have it plugged into the red and white inputs on the side of the tv.

Im not using Media Centre at all dmck, im using xbmc.

Have you tried eliminating the TV by putting the video into a standard monitor and audio out straight to a speaker system or just sound out straight to a speaker system of some sort?

I know some TVs suffer from lag between inputs/outputs due to the processing they have to do for analog to digital and buffering etc.

In my own setup I connect DVI->HDMI into the TV and sound from soundcard direct into amplifier and speaker system. I've never had any issues other then some slowness on windows part with hd video. Other media players tended to fix that.

Well what program are you using to play movies , i got the k-lite codec pack with media player classic and in that player there is an option to offset the sound to the picture ...... you can change it plus or forward from a few miliseconds to minutes can you try this out

Looking at your TV specs, you have 2 audio in points. I assume both have been tried.

Also your sound card could have a headphone jack, have you tried using it with headphones to see if the sound from the pc is in sync with the picture? If that was the case then investing in a good speaker system could be a better idea.

Yeah i tried the back one and there was no sound at all.

When i plug my pc speakers into the headphone jack it seems to be in sync with the tv. Maybe its a dodgy lead im using from the pc to tv for sound.

Yeah you could be right, ive been thinking about getting a decent sound system for a while.

I am using the same setup as you for the last 18 months a dvi to hdmi and the red black audio lead to headphone connection and had no issues such as yours i dont think the lead could be responsible for the delay i would be more suspect of the tv. is there any other tv you can borrow or try it out on ?

Im not saying there is any problem with the tv it could be down to how its processing the sound causing a slight delay ...... have you looked into the vlc media player classic it will provide you with the best stop gap measure until its sorted.
