Just to spread the word for these great guys.. Chikara are going to put out a 2009 "Sampler DVD" for $1.99 to get their name about the wrestling world. Anyone with a remote interest in wrestling should pick it up as the matches are all great and the Kota Ibushi vs. Jigsaw vs. El Generico vs. Nick Jackson match is so amazing it's worth about 3 times the price of the DVD.

Also, the Dragon Gate: Enter The Dragon PPV is probably the BEST major event that's been held all year, go watch it or get the DVD when it's out as it's phenomenal, not a single dodgy match on the card.
As you may have discovered, the wrestling world at large has yet to discover this well-kept secret. Luckily for us, thanks to the overwhelming success of Dragon Gate USA: Enter the Dragon more and more people are starting to hear about us. ...still, it is not enough to satisfy our gigantic appetite for new fans!

To remedy this situation, we are issuing the CHIKARA Sampler DVD! It will be produced, processed and shipped out by our pals at Smart Mark Video.com! Starting Monday, September 28th, through October 3rd, this 2-hour set will be offered for the low, low price of just $1.99! Why would we do such a thing? Because we're hoping to give new fans a chance to check us out, and maybe convert to the CHIKARMY!

    1) Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw, Helios & Lince Dorado
vs. Hallowicked, Frightmare, Hallowickedcito & Frightmarecito [from "Aniversario Yang"]

    2) Eddie Kingston vs. Claudio Castagnoli [from "Aniversario Yang"]

    3) F.I.S.T. vs. The Future is Now [from "King of Trios 2009 - Night 3"]

    4) Kota Ibushi vs. Jigsaw vs. El Generico vs. Nick Jackson [from "King of Trios 2009 - Night 2"]

    5) The Osirian Portal vs. The Colony [from "Revelation X"]

Plus these bonus materials will round out the disc:
    a) Previously at CHIKARA: September 2009 Edition
    b) Official Trailer for the DVD release of "Aniversario Yang"
    c) CHIKARA Podcast-A-Go-Go, Episode # 173

Everyone should buy this. No excuses, if only to support a genuinely great company that does business the right way.

in total agreement with the OP, the Kota Ibushi vs. Jigsaw vs. El Generico vs. Nick Jackson is sensational and will blow anyones mind that hasn't seen Chikara before.(especially Ibushi).

Definitely picking this up, and hopefully knock out a review. These guys really deserve some support, they have a fine product.

Ibushi is one of those guys that I really wish ROH were able to get for an extended tour- once fans are familiar with him, he's the sort of guy Indy fans totally go out of their way to see.

Looking forward to that F.I.S.T match too....

Anyone ever order from smartmark? I tried to buy the sampler- but it didn't work when i tried to use my paypal, then when i went to pay through the site, a message came up saying "unable to estimate shipping", so i just gave up.

Any idea on the shipping, or has anyone else had a similar problem?

Just arrived in the door, pity its in just a plan cd pouch with a clear plastic window. But this is all about the wrestling not some fancy wwe package with crap wrestling.

Sticking it on now, dying to see more chikara after the best of dvd and the tag match @ the 1st dragon gate usa ppv.

just so everyone know smart mark video are having 25% of again over orders of $60 but it ends early saturday. I plan on picking up Young lions cup night 3, Man makes plans and Hiding in plain sight.

"Hiding In Plain Sight" has Brayn Danielson making one of his final indie shows before he heads off to the WWE.

They normaly only have there sales on the weekend, but I guess since it's Paddy Day Smart Mark Video are having thier 25% of sale again(If you spend $60).
Two new Chikara shows plus two old Chikara show from 2002(Feat CM Punk) on the one disc. Also they have a new sampler for $2,with matches from NWA Insanity, C4, AAW, ACW, IWA-EC, F1rst and AIW. The sampler ain't that great, the better matches from it are: Kevin Steen vs. Sonjay Dutt, Eric Darkstorm vs. Jason Kincaid and Rob James vs. Danny Havoc. I thought the No Rope barbed Wire Match between a man and women was a little sick.

Just picked up the three newest Chikara shows. I know the 2002 one will be pretty rubbish but it was only an extra $5 when considered the discount. I've ordered from SMV twice now in the last two weeks and have forgotten to pick up the new sampler each time..

Yeah wanted to get the old show(My nephew would love to see CM Punk in Chikara) but went for the best of Drake Younger DVD for some reason. Like to get your thoughts on the old Chikara show when you get to see it(Wonder what Production vaules where like). As for the sampler your not missing much. It's good for seeing the smaller indies. I seen a few AAW shows they try to keep storylines and character development, plus Jimmy Jacobs a big part of the show but it doesn't click for me.
F1rst(Hey thats how they spell their name) I only seen one show it was Return 09: Jerry Lynn Vs X-Pac. Something like 13 years since they last wrestle and DVD goes out of the way by having two sit-down interviews with Jerry and Pac. Pac goes into extreme detail about his drink/drug problem even brining up his attempted suicide much to the shock of the guy doing the interview. Jerry is very laid back on till his is asked about the "Smart mark" wrestling fans and then he goes off on one. Jerry would make a great heel in ROH going off on these type of fans like Nigel did during his title regin. They even throw in one of there first t.v. matches from like 1991 or something, plus an early promo form Pac(Who looks about 12 on the tape) trying to cut a Ric Flair type interview.

Might be spoliers for those that havn't watched any 2010 shows.
I don't really know what this means but thought I post this trailer up:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xOeJiNdR4s&feature=autofb

For those that can't see it. It seems to a trailer for a Chikara Video game focused on Ultramantis Black! Anybody know more about it?

To answer my own question I picked up the First two Chikara shows from 2002 with new commentery by Mike Quackenbush & Bryce Remsburg.

The production vaules are what you excpet super indie. Two camers, one hard camera and a handheld that are out of focus most of the time. The action takes place in a garage which served as the Chikara training school aswell.

What's great is the commentery by Quack & Bryce which gives you the behind the curtian information without breaking Kayfabe. There only five matches on each shows mostly due to the fact this was the first class from the Chikara training school and for many was thier first pro match.
But there no real Botchmania momentes. Plus it moves along at a brisk pace.

It funny looking back at this things how small everything was and who's still with the company(Hallowicked, UltraMantis, Icarus and Gran Akuma can be seen sitting in the front row watching the show just as a fan.) Plus some guy called CM Punk is in the main event as well wonder what ever happen to him?

The best of Drake Younger DVD had a nice little interview with Drake who comes across a nice honest guy. Saying he doesn't feel good enough to wrestle for the likes of ROH yet. Not the biggest deathmatch fan but the one with Thumbtack Jack (Saw Death Match in WXW) was one of the sickest matches I ever seen.
