It's for a friend in college who does architecture so he will be using programs like autocad and such on it, he won't be using it for gaming etc.

He has a budget of €600 and wants the best possible system he can get with that.

Is his CAD app CPU dependant, or does it benefit from GPU acceleration?

CAD doesnt require much power. A machine with vista, you can get away with a low core 2, 2gb ram and intel integrated graphics and breeze through CAD with no problem

Processor is actually the very same a q8300 but the graphics card is better and its cheaper with a 3 year warranty!!

I think that might be a safe buy considering how much cheaper it is, so might be worth the trip to aldi on sunday.

    Thanks ;)

You might also keep an eye on the DELL outlet store where good bargains appear from time to time. I ordered the following for €570 inc VAT the other day:

    Dell 435 MT with

    Intel i7 920 CPU
    4GB RAM
    640 HDD
    NVIDIA Geforce GT220

I bought 2 PC's through the outlet before and they lasted well. The latest one is replacing one got four years ago.
