Where's The best country to Study Spanish fast and cheaply, have a good time socailising with locals ( fit local girls ) with hardly any tourists and safe enough to get around?? Anybody had any experiences and would love to share??
hey would really appreciate some information about the best places to learn spanish abroad ( Excluding Spain )
I'm an Australian male that speaks fluent french, and now needs spanish because it is not yet conversational!!
I'm looking to study for 3-4 months either one-one or in a group next year starting in May or June!!
Well i've narrowed it down ( considering any options ) to Dominican Republic ( i have a friend there but it could be a bit of a trap speaking french instead of the intended goal ), Guatemuela ( the cheapest ), Venezuala ( has cheap enough schools ) , Columbia ( I've heard not that many tourists go there so it'd be easy to make local friends )
This is a dream so i really want to research it and a friend told me to try forums and i did have a look at forums but they didn't all have the same goals as i have.
I don't know whether i will have a host family because won't they just try and practise they're english with you ( if it was all spanish and i had a brillant spanish social life still i'd consider ) , i was thinking about an appartment too and inviting locals around all the time for hangs, parties etc..
So all i'm looking for is
Good spanish lessons or a school
The cheapest best experience i will ever have
Friendly community easy to meet locals ( nice girls )
Not many tourists or any would be good!
    Good discothequias
    and cheap..
    any ideas??
Would love name of schools, cities or towns and countries of course ;)
    Cheers Brayden

Friends of mine enjoyed a semester in Guatemala as part of their Spanish program. They learned a lot about the language and culture and were able to improve their Spanish by a significant margin.

The college I attended also sent students to Peru as one of the Spanish professors was from there and set it up. They weren't in a tourist area at all. It was quite a travel from the airport, but they all said it was worth. They were really able to immerse themselves in the culture and language.

Ecuador might be another good place.

    Best of luck!

    probably Buenos Aires.
Locals love foreigners, you should study Spanish at any of the three levels offered at UBA (Universidad de Buenos Aires) and though you have to pay a fee, it's shouldn't be any higher than € 150.-
    Here 's the link.

University if enrolling in any other career are for free. We still enjoy of free education, and you could do it as well, they go from many countries to study there, the level is quite good and foremost if you already have a little bit of spanish, just try to avoid any contact with your native language :) and you would be flying very shortly.
Let me know if there is anything I can help you with. Though I was born there I am living in Dublin long time now. I only go there on holidays :)
    Cheers

I forgot to mention, it's cheaper compared to Ireland. Not sure if compared to Australia.
But just consider every peso 's worth € 5.50-5.80.

I think Guatemala would be a good option. I haven't studied there myself, but I know people that have and they loved it. I think you will get a good cultural experience there. Also, I think it is a better idea to live with a host family... if they host you as part of your language program or whatever they'll understand that you are there to learn Spanish and they will only speak Spanish to you, so I wouldn't worry about them trying to practice English with you. I just think that living with a host family will give you more exposure to the language

Consider carefully the accent you will get will probably vary depending on where you learn Spanish. Central American Spanish is not the best or clearest, nor is Argentine, etc.
I'd reccommend any of the big cities in Peru, Colombia, Bolivia or Ecuador. Medellin is good for partying and for spanish schools. Really, theres a ton of places all over central and south america.
You don't want to go to Venezuela right now, its in a state.
Likewise, DR is a bit expensive but Guatemala is cool.

Good luck, its a cool thing to do :) Just remember do not live with other gringos, that will dramatically slow down your learning of another language. Total immersion is the way to go.
BTW spelling Colombia with a U is a pet peeve of mine I almost didn't reply beacause of that! :P

Well for me it's got to be the Tobbac shop just opposite the main exit at Alicante Airport. Can't go wrong.

Doesn't sound like an area where you're looking at but Madrid is a fantastic city to have a great time while immersing yourself in Spanish.
