quick question, if i wanted to record some stuff on cubase using some plugin effects, then email it to somebody else to do their bit on it, would they hear just the staright guitar signal etc? i suppose what i'm asking is would they need the same effects installed to hear what i'm hearing?
ok, im more confused than ever now

If you record the guitar, apply your effects, then export the file, you'll be able to send it on with the effects already applied.

But if your friend wants to hear it with effects, but work on the dry track, then yes, he'd have to have the same plugins/effects.

You can always try to render the track with effects applied. Many DAWs offer such functionality. If not, one way to do it is to mix down the whole song with your track soloed, and putting the result on another track and muting the original.
