studying dilemma

There was a particular part time course I wanted to study for some time. Wanted to study it three years ago but couldn't because of poor public transport in my area and having no car. So I kept putting it off from year to year.

Delighted to find out the course is now going to be run on saturdays. I want to join up but I'm not sure. I want to do it. But I'm afraid it might be too much work. I work very long hours during the week. Also there would be a lot of work to do with the course like projects and assignments, not to mention studying. I don't want the course to dominate every free minute that I have (the very little free time that I have).

Has anybody been in a similar situation. Working and studying part time.

    Sign up for the course.
If you find it's too much, for all the reasons you have stated, stop doing it, but don't spend your life saying 'could have, would have, should have'.

I know a number of people who combine work and study, so it's certainly possible if you want to do it. If you want something done, ask a busy person.

im doing a masters in my spare time and I work full time. I put it off for years as although it was something I wanted to do I never thought that I had the time and tbh it is scary committing yourself to a course. But i really enjoy it.

Its hard work, but Im glad I did it and Id imagine that you will be too. If you try the course the worst thing that could happen is to find thats its not for you, well at least you tried it out and did your best. Then at least you wont be thinking what if.

Just need to balance out your life a bit and it is possible. I've been doing it for the past 4 years and occasionally i get accused of having a life.

At one point i was juggling 2 courses and a full time job. I dont recommend doing that though.

Public transport is your friend. The amount of work i get done on the train is great.

What is the worst that can happen? You loose a bit of money on it? A bit of time?

Better to try and fail then never try.
Of course much better to try and pass though... ;)

    Good luck.

I think that you should go for it. You wanted to study it three years ago and now you've the opportunity. Things like this don't happen very often (course being resumed or course being continous), you should take advantage of it.

I can understand the fear of the work being too much but it's easy to find the balance between work and education.

You said it's on Saturdays right? That gives you a week to tip away at assignments and study.

Go with whatever you feel like doing although I must say there's nothing like it in the world when you put in hard work and it pays off. :)
