I witnessed something this morning that really moved me.

While photgraphing the heron on one side of the pond the male swan was on his own beside me. I heard slap slap slap of big wings hitting the water surface. The male swan took of flying low over the pond to the far side of the island.

Gliding out from the island was the female swan and the five cygnets, the male swan landed, glided through the cygnets, which had there heads bowed down. He stoped in front of the female with his wing puffed out and they touched heads.

They stayed like that for about a minute before the drifted apart. What a way to start a morning.

I was really moved by this sight.

The first shots are not great as I tryed to shot and avoid a big bush...

I can see where you are coming from mele but when they are beside you, do you not feel like they are the most amaingly graceful creatures and that you have to capture the beauty? I find myself mesmerised when I see swans even though my eye doesnt usually turn to that type of photography.

Each to their own I suppose, I love beautiful creature's and if I can get one to stay still in front of the lense I'm happy. I was more interested in the swans behaviour. I feel relaxed taking photo's of the wild life in my area.

The I'd "damage my camera before taking a photo of a subject that doesnt interest me" is something you should look into as imo it is an unhealthy attitude.

ah I may be talking slightly dramatic. I just see them as an awful over shot creature, which personally find quite ugly... maybe its just I cant see whats so graceful about them...
